Hey there! I've been registered for around 3 years but I've only just recently started to take the hobby seriously the last year or so. I've got some great photos I mean to drop here when I have the chance.
Anywho, I'm looking for 1 or more people to join me in exploring the abandoned buildings in Cairo, IL. For security reasons, I prefer this be a multi-person endeavor and none of my friends are crazy enough to go, they are all too worried about the dangers which while they are exagerrated locally, this really isn't a very nice town especially if your white like me and my friends.
We can either meet up in a nearby (not crime ridden abanedoned) town and pile into my truck, or we can each take our own vehicles. The equipment I'm bringing is: *REDACTED* (but pocket knives are no longer included, for those who read this message prior)
I'm also bringing stuff for sandwichs for lunch, as I don't believe there is any place left to acquire lunch locally anymore. I can't find current information on if Shemwells BBQ is still operating inside of Cairo or not.
I know of a few great places to check out, I've done some decent scouting on google road view.
I have 4 simple rules:
* Don't endanger other people. * Don't loot the place. * No breaking to enter (existing enterances only) * If the cops bother us, you don't talk.
Start times/meetup times can be discussed through private messages.
When I commit crimes, I like to publicly declare my intent to do so while identifying myself, my vehicle, what kind of lootables I can be robbed of, and a rough timeframe for when and where to find me.
OK OK OK I get it bad initial post, I've never organized a group before.
I've removed everything offending from the post.
Anyone interested now that its slightly less retarded? Or is there still something else I'm doing wrong here? Like how else am I suppsosed to find a UER member to explore with me like the FAQ says.
I did glance through them but the FAQ isn't exactly an encyclopedia of knowledge. I didn't see that rule though. Its unusual most forums disable the edit button if they don't want people modifying things.
What do I need to do here to not look like an idiot or make this worse and find an exploration partner?
This is a hobby based on smarts and trust, which is earned over time and experience. Post what you have and build a good rep, eventually people might be open to working with you.

Read the TOS, and the pinned items. Read as many threads as possible; learn from others mistakes and about this culture. Establishing yourself here first before looking for meet ups* works better. Trust is built over time and interaction here with others. Post exploring pics and threads.
Welcome to UER
*The exception is a planned local meetup with a mod present.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.
