This time came on pretty hard for the first 5-6 days then tapered off. Oddly not much of a cough, sore throat or runny nose. At 10 days still not 100% but a lot better then a week ago.

You don't sound like you have the flu, Im guessing a damn 2 week cold, Ive had them before snot wouldn't quit for 10 or 12 days, sucked all the life out of me nothing you can do about it either except treat the symptoms with anti-histamines which always dry me up but make me feel like a road kill't possum on the side of the highway, not goin anywhere!

No shit... truth. What an evil piece of shit virus this is. The worst is the first 5-6 days but it last 10-14 days. A friend had the thing here, laid him out for nearly 2 weeks as well. After the first 6 days it's still there and gets worse at night especially if you do too much in the day including not resting early enough in the day. Garlic and chocolate... food of the gods.

It sounds like Dee has found a good way to fight her symptoms with the ~Feed A Fever~ Plan lol... sounds yummy At least the ice cream cools the parched throat. Bh... yours definitely sounds Fluish to me.. the fever and the lack of Strength, especially after being up for a few hours and them Bam! you have to hit the bed again or risk exhaustion or passing out.. Eeuuuu! ive had those exact same symptoms and it took near 3 weeks a few years ago to function for a full day. Now, i get the shot. We be getting to old to play around.. IMHO.. but, i am eating alot of garlic, and popping VitC just in case someone slips me a strain that wasnt in the shot.. This is why I HATE WINTER! Colds, Flu, chilly air, not for me! Bring on Summer! Take Care Guys! Sending more Well Wishes your way!

The dry air in the winter is especially bad for helping spread/promote respiratory infections. Kicking the heat down to 55 F or using humidifiers can help. Anything over 72 F is way too hot.
Your so right about passing out; it kills energy levels wicked and it's sneaky. Make sure you're 100% before resuming your normal activity levels otherwise it will come back to bite you. It seems to flare back up with little warning... rest. If you're still running a fever you're not even close to being done with it. Lol, this isn't a 6 day illness.
More bad news about this junk. Small kids should vaccinated, this year strains can be really nasty for them. Apparently this year's flu shot isn't a complete match but should offer some protection. https://www.google...h-influenza-b.html

Thank you for asking I'm good to go. It took a little over 2 weeks to fully recover. A nasty little virus even though my ride wasn't near as bad as some; probably had some cross immunity from a previous flu. Last year was much worse for me. You can retain immunity from that strain for a lifetime especially if you had the actual illness*. One of the perks of not getting vaccinated; there were none when I was a kid and don't think I ever had a flu shot.
Lol, never stopped smoking my cigars.
* The flip side of that though is if it is a virulent strain like the one in 1916, you're not vaccinated and have had no previous exposure, you are boned. Literally can kill with in a day or two of onset in some; it can move fast and very intensely. As lethal as a hemorrhagic fever. The victims drowned in their mucus and blood. Even today an ICU may not be enough to save someone. We are fortunate not to have seen anything this deadly in over 100 years.

There are so many strains of viruses. i just hope China keeps theirs under control. But something tells me some idiot will catch a plane who already has it and will bring it over here anyway.

Yep! Saw that on the news today. i figured as much it never takes long for someone who is infected to hop a plane to the states and then, here We go!

Well, well it looks like we're in for the Chinese weaponized coronavirus*. It's common practice to release "innocuous" agents to test dispersion and infection rates. WW2 Japanese did it with full weaponized bio-agents on Chinese hamlets. The US has done it stateside in the past as well except they weren't intended to cause illness or death. The Chinese always try too hard...
