Garver Feed Mill was one of the most well known abandonments in Madison, right behind the demolished Royster Clark fertilizer plant. It was originally a sugar beet mill, before being converted to an animal feed factory in the 1930's. It was abandoned in 1997, and sat vacant for twenty years- two long decades that took their toll on the building between vandals, scrappers, and arsonists. In late 2017 work began to renovate the building into an event center and food court, work which concluded in the summer of 2019. Garver is open for business again, featuring an Ian's Pizza, kombucha brewery, yoga studio, and several other businesses. Here are some of the photos I took back when it was abandoned. http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=124133 http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=127503 Now that it has been renovated, I went back a few weeks ago to recreate some of my old shots so I could merge the pre- and post- renovation pictures together. And without further ado, here they are. 1. http://www.uer.ca/...ify&msgid=1939000#

Ian's Pizza, one of the more popular pizza places in town, opened up a shop there. The pizza was decent. They even had a bunch of old machinery and equipment from the mill on display along the walls, some of which I recognized from when I explored it. 7.
I'd recommend checking it out if you're ever in Madison, if only for the sake of its history.

Woah! I had heard redevelopment was underway. I'll have to make a return trip sometime. Thanks for sharing!

I tried twice before I moved to Madison to get in there, and wasn't really successful. Now that I live here it was always... eh... I'll get around to it. But I'm glad they were able to repurpose the site. Controversial Opinion: Ian's Pizza isn't that great. FightMeIRL.gif.

Nah, I agree with you on that. Their primary customer base (at least around downtown) is drunk college students and they know it. Intoxicated students don't care that much about quality when it's 1AM and they're just leaving Whiskey's, KK, or Monday's. after the fifth round of shots. Now Union South has some surprisingly decent pizza, better than you'd expect from a student union.

Thanks for the pictures! Having been there many times to appreciate it's crumbling beauty, and even being honored by having a ridiculous security measure placed over my personal entrance, I have not seen it in it's restored state. It's cool that they fixed it up, but I'll have to overcome my selfish nostalgia, and visit.
