Desert Scenery

got a few shots of some small but well known ghost towns out west. All shot on Portra 400 with a 4x5 camera. All are basic compositions with quick set ups, but I like them for their simplicity. I actually got to meet the land owner that the old rusted out car is on. Really sweet guy that asked about my camera and why someone my age was carrying around something like that. I think the quirky medium helped break the ice with him and he said he doesn't mind people wondering around as long as they're respectful and don't trash or take anything. I look forward to going back with my 8x10 one day soon I hope.

Wow. Good for you shooting that enormous film. Kinda looses some magic just being viewed on a cell phone or computer screen I'm sure.

The second shot has some personality.

These are nice shots. Really enjoy the composition with the simplicity. Thoughts on shooting something like this on b&w film?

I did shoot a lot in B&W, usually with this format you take color photos if it looks good in color and B&W if it only looks good like that. If you have a cold image its pretty easy to change them into B&W. It's been a few years since I've gotten to take a road trip but maybe soon I can take another trip to Zion and the surrounding areas.
