Sea Life Centre

This place is by far one of the most unusual locations I have explored in all my years of doing this. The centre opened in 1979 and sadly closed in 2018 with the owners citing falling visitor numbers - it didn't help being stuck in the arse end of Scotland. After closure all the animals were rehomed at various other centres across the UK, and currently a company who manufactures marine equipment is planning on moving into the premises but nothing has happened yet. Me and my friend were sort of half-heartedly joking about going here but, with time on our hands, somehow we found ourselves parked up nearby and then as if by magic discovered we were inside the building.

The main building at first glance appears pretty small however it's look is deceiving as it is very large inside, and it seems the only things removed after closure were the animals as almost everything was left behind including some tanks which are still full of water. As well as the main sanctuary building there is a visitors centre/shop area but both of those are well sealed. It's a pretty surreal place to walk around, certainly one of the most unusual locations I have ever shot and it was in stark contrast to the dank decayed stuff I otherwise found myself in that weekend.

Great Shots Mookster! This brings back memories of living back in the UK. My dad used take me and my brother to these places all the time! Really eerie place like this. Nice work

It was dark, my heart was pounding, I just had to go in

These pics are BADASS!! What a unique location; guess it was a welcome change from the mold-sptal (which was also pretty cool).
Today's word, kiddies; Epipelagic! (I just really pissed off my autocorrect with that 😏)
Anyway, thanks for sharing, it's always great to see what you come up with next! 😊

Cool place. The security systems would've had me so scared, but I guess they aren't in use anymore.
