What got you into Urbex?

Hello everyone! So I'm currently doing a paper on Urbex and I was wondering what got people into it. Any replies would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Magnus

This is the kind of post many of us HATE.
Right on the Main forum, first post by the OP and worse to help them do their bloody homework.
Expect flames and uncontrollable mahem...

Do YOU explore?
Pics or it never happened.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

I'm so sorry I was only trying to get some personal accounts because I don't want to just have a shitty (please excuse my language) paper. For I value other people's perspectives and stories. For the main forum part, I'm sorry I just thought it was the best place to put it. Then lastly no I haven't really explored since the whole concept is fairly new to me. But when I was younger there was an abandoned barn right next to my house that I would explore from time to time. Sadly though I do not have any photos so, therefore, it did not happen. I am sorry that I have offended you and I hope that we can just pretend it didn't happen.

Thanks,
Magnus

Though I was exploring years before this pic, here's one of my early active infiltrations at 8 years old!

In this image I'm carefully scouring the layout and social structure before going inside.

Weird NJ and driving around seeing abandoned spots I believe. And then I started finding forums online and got into it more.

I've always been drawn to what I shouldn't do, but could do without getting caught. So urbex and many of my other vices really took off.

I first got into exploring to help some friends investigate a nosy dude who was asking too many questions. He was later revealed to be a private detective hired by a litigious site owner.

Felt drawn to exploring and urbex, and a friend took me to a location years ago. I've been exploring ever since.

I bought a camera. And didn't really know what to photograph. My brother in law suggested Scandinavian buildings. I started to. Drive around sorry Pennsylvania, found some, and it was really fun, so I kept doing it.

Starting poking around the basement of my school at 12 years old and began wandering down back alleys and under bridges downtown at age 14. Some online browsing led me down the rabbit hole, and I've been in wonderland ever since.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

I frequent a local subreddit and a couple of times over the years people have posted about some fairly well-known storm drains. After about the 3rd time reading about it I decided to drag a couple of buddies along and see them for myself. Got hooked at that point; explored some more drains and a few abandoned buildings.

I've been doing this stuff since the 1970s.

Curiosity and a desire to see places less travelled.

These places were demolished in 1978.

I grew up in a mining town that went bust in 1972. All these buildings were (and some are) just sitting there... curiosity leads to b&e and that leads to the path less traveled...

...so here we fucking are.

Started off when a friend took me climbing up a local school when I was 13. From then on, my eyes were open and everything was fair game. Finding the online community definitely fueled my drive though...

When writing this paper, please, try to limit the use of the terms "adrenaline junkie" and "breaking into"...

There's so much more to it than that

funny, I never got a 'rush' out of any of this... I always found it intellectually and aesthetically pleasing. Of course, we never ran from anyone because fuck you if you don't like it. It's kind of like that here.

...waits for the next: Hi Im doing a term paper on urbex

Well try incorporating the socio-economic environment and impact on the minority community that lead to a building being empty or an abaond-storm drain or some old geezer's house you broke into, but please don't forget to quote Ninjalicious's book

(crickets... what the Hell is a Ninja whats it?)
