Dr. Evermor's Forevertron and other oddities

Certainly not abandoned, at least not yet. But interesting none the less. If you find yourself near Sumpter WI, look up Dr. Evermor's Art Park. It is open to the public, admission is free. However if you encounter Dr. Evermor's wife selling her art - flip her a couple sheckles as a donation and avoid the dirty looks. Better yet, buy something!

Dr. Evermor's Forevertron, built in the 1980s, is the largest scrap metal sculpture in the world, standing 50 ft high, 120 ft wide, and weighing 300 tons. This monstrosity was created from two Thomas Edison dynamos from the 1880s, lightning rods, high-voltage components from 1920s power plants, and scrap from the nearby Badger Army Ammunition Plant.

The decontamination chamber from the Apollo 11 spacecraft is supposed to be here as well, disguised as a giant bug. I find conflicting info on the decon chamber. The decon chamber I found online is a mobile quarantine facility, and is currently on display at National Air and Space Museum. There were 3 more mobile decons built, and the location of the one used for Apollo 13 is unknown. I have no clue if the one pictured(kinda) is from 11 or 13, or even if the decon chamber is the same as the mobile quarantine facility.

The pics are in no particular order - there is all kinds of weird stuff scattered about. The Forevertron is pictured in #5, 6, 7, and 11.

The Apollo 11 Decon chamber(or what remains of it) is supposedly the polished aluminum chamber under the rusty wings of this bug. Had I known it was there when I visited, I would taken better pics.

The giant red bits here are one of Edison's Dynamos. The other was in blue, and is not pictured.

Give abandonment a reason for its sacrificial reclamation to nature. Love it. Remember it. Take a picture. Share it. Leave the decay to nature.

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time.
