The Chemical Facility
< on 9/8/2019 12:22 AM >
Posted on Forum: UER ForumQuote
A past chemical facility, now a location for scrappers and bums to hang out. With three actual buildings, along with multiple green houses, the whole property itself takes up acres of land.
Inside the tallest building, most of the rooms were identical to this one
The interior barely had any trash or graffiti, just some decay.
While I wasn’t able to get into the main office building, there was a ladder nearby that allowed me to take some shots of the inside.
The greenhouses were (obviously) much hotter than the outside, but were the easiest to enter.
I wasn’t able to get any pictures of the third building, since it was pretty much boarded all the way up.

I have been to this site several times in the last month. Awesome explore. I have explored most of the buildings including the records office down the street. I have ran into scavengers, graffiti writers and FPV pilots. At one point everyone was doing their own thing in perfect harmony. Think of it as an active coral reef. Scavengers, artist and fliers coexisting in an environment with its days numbered. Upon my recent and last visit, all the building have been boarded up and there is no access to the inside. Some of the greenhouses are still accessible but not for long. I have also heard that there is now security which patrol the area. I did not see any during my visit. This was one of my favorite spots to explore but unfortunately nothing lasts forever. I may upload some of my pictures in the near future if anyone is interested.

This is actually a building for incubating start-up biopharmaceutical companies. Sad to hear that it is heavily secured now... probably all the attention its been getting in *certain* circles. Which was the 3rd building you are talking about? I may have some pictures.

Anyways, here is my contribution of pictures. Lemme know if they are still too big.

I believe it was the parking lot building right next to the tallest building, but I’m not completely sure what it was used for.

The pictures I posted were from yesterday, whereas I was lucky enough to get into two areas. Nearly all of the glass on one of the greenhouses front is broken, so you could literally just walk in without having any obstacles. Luckily, I didn’t run into anyone except for a couple who looked very out of place (they didn’t look like bums, writers, etc.-they just looked like casual people.)

No idea what it is used for either. Plain concrete inside, but it was full of some pretty impressive-sized graffiti pieces. The picture I took from a roof is from that building. Here's some pics from inside. It's the same all around except for a ladder with access to a roof.

I guess harmony is a bit of a stretch. I am not crazy about scrapers either. What I meant was everyone kept to their own business.

I was there yesterday as well. Later in the day. I did not check the front entrance because I came from the rear. Wanted to checkout The records office. I did hear a sound of broken glass being stepped on in the main building on my way out. Was that you?

It might’ve been, I was there from 12 to 2 with one of my friends.

Greenhouses are no joke. I've been to one place where it had several smaller houses and boy did I stay right by the door taking my pictures. I didn't venture any further than that because of the sheer amount of heat inside. You definitely could feel it.

Luckily we got in before the sun was out, and a ton of the glass inside was already broken providing us with a little air from the outside.

Opened up the lens cap on my camera only to find it fogged up due to the humidity inside too.

People are calling this place "The Hotbox" because of the heat from the greenhouses. My first visit a month ago, most of the glass was intact. Yes it was hot. Journeyed to roof and was granted with a radioactive surprise. Oh my!

Unfortunately scrappers quickly become your business.
They attract cops.
Create hazardous conditions for all and damage the structures.
Best to nip them in the bud...

Vandals, same-same.

Taggers I may choose to ignore, depending who they are.

Yep unfortunately you are right. Upon every visit I saw the place get stripped away.

If you care about a site, call it in... cops will generally not charge you with trespass when reporting a serious crime.

Really cool set. I especially love the way the greenhouse looks. I'd love to go there if I ever get the chance.

Was able to check out this place over the weekend. Got really lucky and didn’t run into anybody while we were there. Here’s some iPhone shots until I get everything unloaded from my SD card and edited.
