Farmhouse General Store

This is perhaps the best residential location I have done for some considerable time. It's certainly the one we spent the longest in, as there was simply so much to look at it was unreal.

There is scant information around about this building. The oldest part dates back to the 15th Century, although it has obviously been heavily altered since then and the interior is almost all 19th Century in layout and construction. It was at one point a farm for a nearby manor, and then at some point was extended and became a General Store. The most recently dated item I found inside was from 2004, which may suggest it was abandoned around that time but it has obviously been 'abandoned' since the late 1990s in parts. What I guess happened is that family members died, the shop was closed, rooms were abandoned, and it ended up with one person living there until they too passed away. The sheer amount of old stuff inside dating back over 100 years in some cases is mind-boggling, you could root through it for a week and not see everything there is to see in there - I spent a good three hours plus inside and feel like I barely scratched the surface!

It really is up there in the 'locations that simply shouldn't exist' category. The only bad thing about the place was that a lot of it was in darkness as most of the building is very well boarded, so getting photos was a struggle at times but for much of the time the thought of taking photos was playing second fiddle to examining all the stuff I was digging up.
