What was actually at the gate was one sheriff's deputy and a masked camo dude with an M4.
A little ways into the property, there was substantial backup security at the ready. The camo dudes were obviously trying not to provoke a confrontation while making sure no one got on the installation.

Well, only takes one "camo dude" with an M4 to stop 30-90 freaks and conspiracy dweebs depending on his load out
of course the dweebs would gladly sacrifice themselves and fall in a hail of FMJ just to create a distraction so their naruto runner can get through.
I was up mine exploring east of Rachel for the last week. On the way home this morning I stopped in Alamo for fuel and some Chester's chicken. In the store were shirts for Invading Area 51. I thought of picking one up just for grins, but my hunger won out.
I will say that the Air Force boys were having a lot of fun in their jets. All week we would hear them come and go. A few instances of flares which was fun. On Friday I got the fun of watching a jet fly a low pass over the ridge just above us and another down the valley we were overlooking. Fun Times.

They're probably using them in restricted practice ranges with other live ordinance...
Surprisingly they were flying out over Delamar dry lake bed. The test range is about 15 to 20 miles due west. I know that sometimes they stage eastward by where we were camping, but I had not seen them actively maneuvering. Fun to watch!

Cool. Never got to see that before. So they were IR decoy flares? Always fun to watch military AC
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.
I'd hardly call it UE because I had to have an escort and it was over 30 years ago when cameras used film and were a bit more bulky than today.
That and the fact that you are not allowed to carry any form of recording device into many of the sensitive areas. Photos are rare and can land the 'photographer' in military or federal prison for a lengthy stay. #notworthjailtime
