Wow. So well done. And the effort! Amazing. So much better than like, all other exploring videos ever made.

Thanks! i'm not even sure it's not sarcasm at this point haha

You guys are heroes and absolute madmen! People here may have differing opinions on setting up shots, and I think this does count as an extreme example of that, but the end result certainly shows that it was well worth the effort to fix up such an impressive space.

Thanks man

Yeah we talked about that but i feel like when a place is put back like it was before and not put random things at random places for the show it's not 'setting up'.

Posted by Freaktography
You guys have been impressing on the regular but this one takes it to a whole other level!

I don't know many people who are taking the risks and putting in the time and effort as you guys have been lately!

Enjoy this and all that comes with it, you've earned it!

Thanks mon ami! you should see what we did this week lol, we pushed it to the limit thats for sure lol

Posted by skatchkins
Holy cow this is amazing. Well done on getting in, the shots, and the clean up!

Thanks a lot man

Merci man!, j'espère en faire d'autres bientôt! Et on a un autre petit vidéo en production qui risque d'être assez épique!

Posted by jc0507
Wow! Amazing work!! I've been wanting to go there too... but I almost got caught by security when I went. It's like 30 minutes from my house so it's worth another shot.

Thanks!
I would definately go! Just the fact that you know there is security making rounds you have a big advantage on them.

I know there can be debate about what it means to alter a site... but I'm personally for undoing thoughtless vandalism. Bravo, and thank you.

I really do hope that some people are not offended about it, and if they are ... i'm not feeling bad one second haha

It was a pleasure!

This is great! Good job guys!

Thanks

It always makes me sad seeing tons of new graffiti at locations I've visited before. I'm with you on this one!

Yes! thanks!

Posted by mookster
I've heard of cleaning up and staging things but this is ridiculous

All jokes aside, I have mad respect for you guys doing that. That control room is a thing of beauty.

haha Like i said, if it's to put it like it was i dont feel like it's staging, because i hate it haha. (specially the gore fake blood murder staging shot or clowns things)

But thanks a lot

there are only two or three closed nuclear plants I know of in a -8 hour radius from Montreal, all in New England.
maybe its my age, but, was this really a great idea?

They can go if they want! Security and welded doors will welcome them.
The big wave of people have already passed in 2015-2016-2017 when the place was wide open.
After that they welded everything and put 24h security. Now if you enter you earned it!

Posted by Wilbur
I went there about two weeks ago and saw no security but all the doors were locked up pretty tight. They were either welded, or barred up with locks. I only saw one semi-viable door. It said 'check door' next to it, but would have took some persuasion to get open. Oh, and this is fantastic too. I love the fact you guys were finding things around to repair it.

You got lucky because either you get caught going or either you get locked inside because they are waiting outside... if you can get in.

Posted by IndoAnomaly
You boys. I cannot speak highly enough of my opinion on this.

Thanks a lot my friend!

Posted by FracturedReality
I really wanna go clean up some place now, just gotta find the right one.

hehe that's the spirit!

Posted by Alpine7840
You guys are just awesome, that control looks like they just left yesterday!

Thanks Yeah that control room is something else, cannot rivalise with a nuclear one!

Posted by Beebs
I have always wanted to do this and have been in the process of doing something similar to our caves here in msp. So much garbage in them and graffiti on the sandstone walls.

You should! I hope i can come in msp soon for all those drains and caves, some of my friends have been there severals time for the big meets.

So, i saw your reply to the "set up" topic and couldn't resist to reply the original topic.

W.O.W.

Cannot agree more than what you said about setting things up. Cleaning some place to make it look like nothing happened is freaking awesome and way more interesting than setting up a fake environment.

You two litterally took the the cleaning thing to a whole new level. I guess that explains the broom now.

Awesome job guys, I'm really admirative of that.

So not only did you manage to clean it up, you managed to clean up a place with such tight security without being caught? Holy hell that's impressive. Incredible work!

This is just so amazing. This is what makes US different! We care enough about these locations to save them instead of destroy them! To most people we are crazy to US we are explorers! I will stand with anyone who wants to do something like this! Great job!

What an incredibly unique location. Loads of respect for you guys for managing to get in there in the first place, and for having the drive to spend hours cleaning it up! It was certainly worth it in the long run - a location of this significance is not deserving of haphazard graffiti tags and papers strewn across the floor. It looks infinitely better in an "untouched" state!

Thanks fellow Montrealer!

You know what, we were planning to do more places like that like with des carrières control room , that have been abandonned for like 20 years, but it got burned

Thanks a lot. yeah the first time we went there the year before we almost got caught, it was a matter of seconds and the guy on the truck would had spot me and i would hot have been able to run anywhere.

I wonder how the security is now and if it got trashed again.

Last year we went to explore a well known abandoned nuclear power plant and failed miserably as the security went pretty intense after all the attention that got brought through Youtube videos and Instragram posts in the last years.

The first time we almost got caught while trying to make our way inside as the security is on site 24/7 and as the facility is on a active gouvernement owned property.

The security truck was chasing one of us and we had to bail.

Overall the building was pretty untouched, but what i would qualify as the main attraction in the building ; the control room, suffered a lot from vandalism.

Before even going the first time we thought that it would be nice to restore it back like it was when it closed, but the idea stay until the second time.

Fun fact, just a week before we got there this thread emerged on the forum : What a shame...
So Joseph, i hope you'll be happy!

It took almost a year before we could come back, as it's an 8 hour drive from home and in a different country.

When we arrived on site, it was worst than what we expected.
They had changed all the fences and the gates, and all the trees and the bushes were cleared so they could see all the perimeter. Not a single place to hide...

After jumping a couple of fences we were on the premise and we finally made our way in based on our last experience and a lot of researches.

We made a video about this little project and we hope you guys will appreciate it!

Awsome video, its cool to see you guys cleaning up after others. I've been wanting to go to this location for a while. Any idea if security is still a 24/7 thing? My plan is to go at night because I knew there was security, and I'm no stranger form running form security, but the less I encounter security the better. Any info your willing to share would be greatly appreciated

That was my first thought. But too many people manage to go inside Des carrieres so
it was pretty obvious it burnt. It would have stayed like 10 days clean and smashed again after.

Actually the fire was not even criminall, from what i remember the control room burned bacause of an accidental fire caused by the use of the city or a city worker.

But yeah anyway kids had done lot a bonfire in there for a while but happily nothing ever happened cause its almost all concrete.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next big thing to burn was actually Silo 5, with all the activity going on there it's bound to happen one day or another. I've seen recent pictures of the place and it's far from its glory days! There is 1000x more graffiti and vandalism than the last time I've been (this must've been around 2018). I always loved this location because it was pristine and vandalism-free for so long. Same with Des Carrières Incinerator, it was relatively "clean" until 2-3 years ago. Proves that no location stays clean forever.

Last summer, I spent almost all my nights at Silo no. 5. I would arrive in the afternoon and often on Thursday I would come across thieves in the large stairwell. I had made up my mind to do something to scare them, but I realized that alone, that doesn't change much.
