What started it all? Vol. 1?

I’m sure this has been asked before but couldn’t find a thread relating. So what started your fascination with abandoned structures and urbexing in general?

Mine was this abandoned house at the end of our alley. As a kid growing up it frightened me, and intrigued me for years. We would always tell scary stories of bodies floating in the basement, I dare not enter it! Until I was a little older, they still had a lot of interesting items inside. Mostly strewn across the floor broken from vandals.

They tore it down a handful of years later but I’ll definitely always remember it as the start to my interest.

I was always into games, Silent Hill being one of my favorite series. So the rusty look and aesthetic lead me here.

The closest I'll ever be to exploring a fantasy dungeon!

When I was growing up in Nashville, there was a pretty serious flood. If you lived in Nashville in May of 2010, you remember this flood. Most Nashvillians refer to it as the 'May Flood'. This flood caused catastrophic damage and my most fond memory of this flood was being in the grocery store and the power just going out completely. In this flood, my dad was intrigued by a nearby apartment building known as the Imperial House apartments. These apartments had been closed for a long time, and I hadn't even noticed until the flood. It looked extremely deteriorated after the flood. My dad took me for a walk around, and while we didn't go inside. It still struck something.

The imperial house apartments were demolished in May of 2017.
