My spirits plummeted as I turned the corner onto the street by the building, and saw that a security truck was parked right in front. I had already messed up my timing and had lost the advantage of the predawn darkness, and now this fuckmonkey was sitting there shining his headlights on the only safe route in that I knew. Circling around the block, I waited at a stop sign for him to move on. When he didn't, I made another pass up the street and turned around at the end, ready to give this one up and head home. As I made my last pass, the security guard was nowhere to be seen, and the area was deserted. Parking quickly, certain that this was a bad idea, I sprinted across the lawn as the first rays on dawn broke over the horizon. I dropped into the fetid basement and jogged up the stairs to the top floor, listening for a returning car or an alarm, but hearing none. I entered the first operating room right as dawn fully broke, and knew immediately that no level of risk could balance out the spectacular rewards that this place had to offer. 1.)

I strongly considered titling this set something like "Holy-Fucking-Shit-Would-You-Just-Look-at-This Hospital". I've never been in a place with such a combination of well-preserved vintage artifacts in a decayed and architecturally interesting structure - which still has power, to boot. Security came back once while I was on the top floor, and I heard another photographer on the stairs at one point (If that was you: Hi!), but other than that it was a very quiet and laid-back place to be, considering how much of a magnet it is to explorers. As always, thanks for looking!

Not surprising from your usual work, but this is beyond awesome! Of the many hospitals I've explored, only one has come even close to this and it's still not quite a worthy comparison. That OR and the dentist's chairs are sweet...what is that in pic 12? I see it has a rather sturdy looking door, and a couch hiding in there. Anyway, thanks for sharing; that's a good write up as well, glad the security wasn't too much of a pain...I hate it when circumstances turn my predawns into slightly post dawns!

That has to be one of the most stunning hospitals I've ever seen.

very cool set! Love to have that drafting table in #14!

Very well done. Spectacular site, shots and relics. Even nitrous refreshments

Great photo set and great f$%cking hospital! I love sites like this.. just enough security to keep the vandals away, but not enough to keep those of us determined enough. It's like a time capsule. NMPatriot (Ric)

This is so much better going in with the knowledge that it's a set that almost wasn't. From the first few pics, I thought it would be a recent vacancy, so I was surprised to see the decay in #14 and onward. You took a risk, and were rewarded for your efforts. So were we!

This has been on my list for a while, but these pics just make me wanna go so bad! Amazing pictures as usual, especially paired with such an amazing place.

Nicely done man, glad you were able to make it. I'm hopeful I'll eventually be able to get up there but hate that fact that so many are going it's more and more likely someone will end up getting this place sealed.

Thanks everyone! I'm very glad that you've all been as impressed with this place as I am. Locations this good are really not common at all, especially in my region, and words can't really describe how excited it was when I figured out where and what it was, and how comparatively easy it would be for me to see it for myself.

If you have the means to get yourself there, I would do it absolutely as soon as possible. As you guys say, it's been getting a lot of traffic lately, and security definitely takes notice. I heard from another explorer that a bunch of people had a "horrible experience" with security there just this past weekend, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if its days of easy accessibility are numbered.

You really did the place justice. I wish I had spent more time inside and really focused on the details like you did. I was too busy getting naked.

Ha, I was thinking about that when I was shooting that room. I actually took a very similar shot to yours (albeit clothed) for my FB profile pic. Sitting in the butt prints of greatness...

Not sure how I missed that. I applaud not only his photography and composition, but also that he's comfortable enough with his body to take these shots. Phenomenal. Could also work as a way of avoiding security on some sites. I can only imagine a security guard coming upon you and being like "Nope, nope.. not paid enough for this.." and walking away. Seems that I've derailed a thread from it's original intended purpose though, for that I apologize. This hospital is a great location though. I don't see many that are quite so.. intact.
