Here's a brilliant idea: Find out for yourself, and share your findings.

Be careful with that novel thought Hoolie, I suggested it before and got all the newbs all stirred up...

Holy cow! FREAKING AWESOME PICTURES! I recently visited a NIKE site here in Alaska and can't wait to go to more.
Have they been demolishing most of the NIKE sites down in the continental US?

There's not been any organized, national or state-level program/project to demolish Nike sites.

When the military moved-out, the Government Services Administration became the 'landlord' of the sites & put a small or medium effort into finding another federal, state or local government entity that wanted them, or selling the land (in some cases, back to) the surrounding land owner. Once an agency or private citizen took-over the site for their use, in most cases, *they* then became responsible for any remediation of hazardous waste on the site, but the reality is Army Corps of Engineers Defense Environmental Restoration Program - Formerly Used Defense Sites ("DERP-FUDS") would occasionally get the mission & funds to do environmental surveillance on one or more sites in an area -- checking water tables, making sure hydraulics had been properly drained from Launch Battery elevators, etc. & if it hadn't been done, hiring contractors to do it. Pretty expensive to do it properly. So it's easier to just 'forget' about the sites or operate them with a low-profile because once you start investigating, you're kind of obligated to then do something about the issues you find.

So plenty of sites site long abandoned but technically owned by someone, some in-use as municipal storage yards, and some have had the surface buildings bulldozed with the debris dumped into the underground storage magazines, which have then been covered-over with soil, so the only thing you may see is a raised, grassy area and probably a few water testing wells.

There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.
