Check their Instagram accounts & Youtube channels. Please Like & Subscribe to my channel. Built in 1888, The Ranch of Friends was a place to care for the handicapped, homeless, insane and elderly. It was called the County Poor Farm. Able-bodied residents could work on a large farm which sustained most of the hospital's dietary needs, in lieu of paying for room and board and medical care, as well as making wool clothing and rugs that were sold to the public. In 1918, the Spanish influenza epidemic hit the area, and the facility began treating all victims rather than just the indigent, and the word "Poor" was stricken from the name of the facility. During World War II, the U.S. Army turned part of the hospital grounds into Camp Morrow, a long-term care facility after the war, mostly for victims of polio. The actual date of the closure of the hospital was some time in 1988. After it was closed down, the U.S. Marine Corps occasionally used the south campus to perform military training drills. On October 5 2006 during one of the exercises, troops opened a freezer in a former pathology building and discovered a package full of mummified body parts. The coroner's office identified 10 legs, feet and brain matter, and determined that these were amputated medical specimens, rather than the result of foul play. A L.A. Times article reports that they were simply "forgotten in a long-ago move." https://opacity.us/site237_rancho_los..

the number of cops they have posted baby sitting this place is kind of overkill, usually one or two but i drove by the other day just to survey the area and they had like 4 patrol cars driving around, but at the same time there's talk of demolishing the place and turning it into a community center so a lot of important city employees have meetings in one of the well-preserved buildings on site that hold the blueprints and records of the location discussing when an how to begin the demolition processing, fun fact across from the building they have meetings is a church that now storage with patients record and documents, just boxes of peoples information stacked to the ceiling.
