What would it matter if you knew the brand or company anyways? It records, don't do anything bad in front of it! That seems pretty simple to me. And Max Power is a particular "member".

What are you talking about ???

I just wanted to learn something about security cameras. It's not my fault if people brought up other topics.
But they are also interesting topics. So if we can't talk about these things here, I don't really see the point of having a forum.

I couldn't care less about my post count.

Read the thread again, you will see I'm not the one that mentioned lockpicking, I'm not the one that mentioned B&E and law, I'm not the one that mentioned pictures.

I just wanted to ask a question, and I'm a bit sick to have to justify myself for everything I say (especially when I just reply to people).

Good to know. Although this topic wasn't about lock picking initially.
>But I don't need one anyway.<

You should have said ^this^ at the get go instead of misleading us by omission.

Because how I get in is MY problem. I initially specified that I need a couple of minutes under the cameras just to give a context. Spending 2 minutes under the cameras of an abandoned building is not the same as spending an hour in front of a government building.

Also, I couldn't know initially that people will get sidetracked about it.

From now on, I will only reply to post related to security cameras.

Thanks.

I can't say most, because I just don't know. But I do know a LOT of modern security cameras aren't recording unless there is motion. Motion could trigger a recording session AND alert someone remotely to check on the feed. That feed could be a security company or direct to someone's cell phone. You are certainly free to assess what you deem risk. Cameras aren't worth risk to me personally, neither is spending 2 minutes at a door doing whatever.....

I'd rather wait for someone else to break in and use their POE as well as their confirmation that the cameras are BS....

Thank you.

But would cameras still work if the building is not powered anymore? Do they have batteries or solar panels?

I like your last sentence. Although that means somebody has to do it first

One thing that is a bit bothering me, is that, by looking on Google Street view, I found that this building was just regular shops before (nothing special about them). But it has been abandoned for a while now (a couple of years).

However, this building is the only one in the area with so many cameras. I counted about a dozen of them all around the building.

Trails cam run on batteries, but also just dump to a SD card. For it to have a feed, it would need phone or internet. In the latter case, I would imagine the property would need power as well....

Those aren't even comparable.

How you get in can also be our problem. If you pick your way in, get caught and somehow this thread is found, we're now associated with defeating CCTV and picking locks.

And then the Powers That Be reclassify us from "slightly nutty harmless trespassers" to "organization of cat burglars"

This would lead to Bad Things for us.

If it's so abandoned, why all of this?

How someone gets in is their problem... until they post it on here.
If you got arrested at that site and the prosecutor entered this thread as evidence, how would that look?
It has happened before.

I'm sure police officers have nothing better to do than tracking on the web people across different countries, that MIGHT try to enter ABANDONED buildings (maybe legally, maybe not), and charge them.

You guys are a bit paranoid.

And why would I mention this website anyway ??

It's ridiculous. And if you don't want to be in trouble DON'T BRING UP LOCKPICKING ON A THREAD THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

I'm so tired of this.

What's the point of this forum if you don't want to share anything (no POE, no locations, no tips, no methods).
When I came here, I thought I would find people happy to share informations.
But so far, I (almost) only found people complaining about anything, all the time, about stuff unrelated to the original question.

I came here to know, from your experiences, are camera on abandoned buildings (excepted federal buildings, hospital and so on), if they were active, if you got into trouble with it, are they solar powered, motion activated, running on battery.

I'm sorry but answering these questions are just general knowledges. I don't ask for details (about where and when you were there, etc...). If you can't give me some answers, don't bother writing on this thread then, and move on.

And sorry, but I didn't post shit about how I was planning to get in. Read my posts again.

And guys, if you don't want any trouble with the police, don't do urbex. Urbex is always (or almost always) tresspassing on private properties, so don't come to me saying you're saints.

We are happy to share information, but we have to balance that with the need to protect the places we explore. Cops absolutely pay attention to this forum, as do scrappers and thieves- UER members have gotten in trouble for posts they made on public sections of the forum, and multiple scrappers have been banned.

PoEs change so frequently that they aren't worth posting, and even if they don't change any explorer worth their salt should be able to find them on their own. Locations are available on the Database for full members, but given the above paragraph basic members are restricted from viewing them- and many locations aren't given out at all, because too much traffic will destroy them.

Just relax, post some pictures, and let it go. UER has new drama every month, and I guarantee this whole thread will be forgotten about by the time the next drama comes along if you stop fanning the flames.

Yeah posting dumb ass help me break in to this specific place threads especially on the Main forum will get you flamed.
If the OP then fans the flames and it will turn into an inferno.
Posting any info of a hot site before you go in on a public thread is inept.
Jeeeesze.

Op: just do it or find a place that suites your skill/risk level...
If it seems like a bad idea, it probably is.
If you think you caught hell here, just wait until you deal with a bunch cops that are really pissed off with you.
Do what you did here with them and things will most likely take a turn for the worse.

Control the heat before it gets too hot.
