When I meet someone new, there are two things that make me cringe. Gossip about other explorers, and discussing the shots you've seen online that you want to take. Don't do either of those

This is probably a very youth specific problem but if people I wanna explore with could show up sober and Not Bring Drugs that'd be super cool because its just so many different types of bad. No one needs the extra charge cause one person wanted to smoke on the rooftop or whatever.

That goes double for wannabe ghost hunters. I've scared a few of them away in years past... oops
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

^This I once explored with someone who pulled out a flask of vodka halfway into a trip that was potentially dangerous. 3/4 of the way, he pulled out a bag of weed. I never explored with the guy again. If you want to get high and/or drunk during a explore, you clearly don't value the safety of yourself or others.
You're not in a brothel lineup. You're in a two way business discussion. |

I have a spot that I take n00bz to in order to ascertain how good an exploring partner they would be. It's about an hour away from where I live, we go at night, and it has multiple buildings that are fun to explore. There is also a bat colony, so fewer mosquitoes, lol. It's reasonably far away from civilization that they could be loud and idiotic, if they so chose, and there wouldn't be consequences for me. I spend my time doing night sky photography and helping them figure out how to explore. It also helps them figure out if they even want to do it again. Most people I bring there, I don't bring anywhere else. Either because they behaved badly or they realized that smelly old buildings aren't all they're cracked up to be.

I generally don't enjoy meeting new people. I would much rather go alone or with the two friends who like this hobby and I know and trust enough to go with or my girlfriend who has been showing interest in the hobby. If its an explore I feel could be potentially dangerous I am more prone to just take one of my friends and ask my GF to stay home. None of the listed people I stated have accounts on here either but enjoy the hobby. Maybe you should look at your group of friends maybe your exploring partner is already there.

Outside of the obvious dumb shit (destroying stuff, tagging, throwing things out windows, etc), a huge pet peeve is the whole when you think you hear something and shush for a second, and they continue to be loud and waving their flashlight all over the place. What a pain in the ass. Also when you're on a roof or something at night and some idiot is taking flash photos/waving their flashlight around. I also once took some newbies up onto the roof of an active site and one of them pulled out alcohol while we were there, and upon me telling him that it was a bad idea and unsafe, tried to placate me with the offer of some of his booze and then proceeded to take several flash photos. I decided it was time for us all to leave--he ruined the night for all his friends too.
"That sounds like a horrible idea! Let's do it!" |

What. If you're going to meetup with strangers during a pandemic you're already someone I don't want to associate with period.
I'm a lone explorer because I hate people. |
