Hello UER! My name is ExploreIA. About once a year a small group of my friends from high school and I will get together and try to do some urban exploring. We don't often take pictures so these are the only ones I have of this particular site (so apologies for the poor quality). But the old asylum is definitely the most interesting site we have visited thus far. Lots of graffiti and evidence of squatters but other than that it is mostly untouched. The upper floors are mostly just patient rooms, offices, and a kitchen but the basement/ boiler room is the jewel of the building by far with lots of large HVAC equipment and plumbing and electrical it's an interesting sight to behold. the best part about the basement is that there is an underground tunnel to an outbuilding that is also fun to explore. I plan on going back soon with another group of friends over spring break to document more of the building so I will post again with better quality photos next time. this post is mostly just to introduce myself as a new member of the community and to say that I'm exited to be on here with all of you! first picture is me walking up to the front door second picture is a sign in one of the bathrooms that we thought was kind of funny.

Give abandonment a reason for its sacrificial reclamation to nature. Love it. Remember it. Take a picture. Share it. Leave the decay to nature. Lifetime member of The Anti-MyInstaTubeTweetFace consortium. | |

Iowa is in the Great Lakes area, nit Great Plains. Somebody will move it. Great Plains is a pretty quiet region on here.
