Abandoned Knitting Mill (350,000+ Square Feet of Abandoned Glory)

Here are some photographs I took of an abandoned knitting mill out here in Knoxville. I don't really know how to upload them in any other way than through these posts, but I still hope you all enjoy them!
Side note, what kind of cameras do you all use? Right now, I just rent one from my university, but I'm looking to buy one for myself.

Happy exploring
- Sarah

I personally shoot all my digital shots on a Canon Rebel t-5. It's a last gen camera, but the rebel series lenses still work for it so it's not hard to get new glass. The kit came with a f3.5 18-55mm lens and I bought a f1.8 50mm for $120 or so. It does what I need it to, and I like it.

I also shoot a lot of film, and I mainly use a Minolta SRT101 for that. There are a few cheap Kodak medium format cameras I use here and there. Some instant print and peel apart Polaroids too. Feel free to reach out to me if you're looking to get into film.

Also, love these shots. Wish we could see it before it was gutted and graffitied

Thank you so much! I'll look into those. I rented a Rebel from the University, actually.
Also, Knoxville's economy strongly relied on this mill back in the 1980s, so a LOT of families here still have strong connections to it. I'm in a Facebook group dedicated to pictures, stories, etc. about it, and I can link you to a couple if you'd like. Just message me! Thanks again

Very nice; I've explored a few mills around here, but nothing as big as this...some of these shots are very colorful (especially #20). Pics 2 and 4 make me want some Pepsi and grits 😁! Thanks again for sharing another sweet explore!
Also, I use a Canon SX-100, pretty outdated (purchased in about 2007) but it's a great camera and does pretty well for me. I mess around a bit with the settings, and have tried improving my skills (I'm a pretty amateur photographer, but it works for me) but mostly I point and shoot.
Good luck out there; be safe and happy exploring!

My boots would just echo throughout that entire place.

Some quality floor warping in 12, 13.

Forgot to add my camera,
Nikon D3300 with the 18-55mm kit and a Tamron 70-300mm.
The Tamron is pretty good for the price, though I haven't taken it exploring much yet.

That place looks huge! I really like the angle you got in 12.
I shoot on a Sony a6500 but recently switched from their a3000. The 3000 was a terrible camera but it taught me how to not rely on anything auto focus or being able to shoot at an iso higher than 100. Sony is cheap for the quality but a lot of people prefer a real dslr. Sony also has amazing video for the price, which was the main reason I bought it. If you've been shooting on a rebel then you should probably get one. The t3i is still a great camera, so don't get caught up with the newer names and such. After the 3, the changes between models weren't very significant. Point and shoots are also a good option, and I believe that sony's rx100 series is the best right now. Everything depends on price and how much you'll be willing to spend in the future on things like lenses.

Good photos!

GRITS!

Pretty cool you can rent a camera from your university. I definitely missed out if my college offered anything like that as I never knew about it.

This place looks huge, holy crap

Camera: I love my Canon Rebel T6i. The kit lens is fine or whatever, good for beginners, I didn't fall in love with it.. but my 40mm 2.8 prime lens that weighs as much as a feather; best value I've ever gotten! Carrying my camera around feels like nothing with the 40mm on and it's a ton of fun! My other lens is the Canon 24-105L mark II which is a tank that I love as well and take most of my photographs with.
