I MISS DRAINS AND WE NEED A DRAINPORN THREAD HERE

Lets see some interesting urban subterranean exploration features! Some examples are neat stairs; unique ways places have come up with to reduce erosion and/or slow water down; calcium deposits; weird items; ice formations...etc.

If you have those calcium deposits that drip down walls and form small ecosystems at the bottom...those are especially hard to photograph for me, so I think theyre special and wanna see them.

I've posted this before, but never got any answer as to WTF it is. "Hellraiser Room". My first thought was rag catchers, but this is a non-combined storm water drain. Not sewage. So, WTF are these here for?! Generally speaking, this is a collection chamber with 3 too-small-to-explore infalls, and one 6' RCP leading to an outfall into Honey Creek, before it immediately disappears underground into qty4 8' RCPs.

2.

3.

This is part of a 6 drain system, 2 outfalls into the creek, then 4 infalls leading the creek under the Wisconsin State Fair Grounds. The other drains have been partially explored, and are in the DB here:

There is a Drainers forum on the private boards here: https://www.uer.ca...id=1&catid=1000116
but I gave up posting in it because it seemed like no one was home.

I know there is. Im part of them. But again. Generally no one posts anymore. I wanted this here because I feel like drains get overlooked real easily. Honestly i think drains have some of the coolest stuff in them. Most unpredictable, really. I figured it had more chance of being noticed here, anyways.

Great shots - awesome drains! What is that in #5? It looks like a giant-sized old whiskey bottle...

Thanks, man. It's a device that is lowered into a plughole, to divert sewage from its course towards a CSO. When the devices (there are 4 cells like this one in this CSO chamber) are lowered, the water level rises to the CSO 7 feet higher.

I've viewed a metric butt-load of drain pics over the years. I have never seen one of those before. Thanks for the explanation!

The Badass photo is as it is... badass.

I should try to explore some drains next time I head out.

These drain photos are trash compared to the other photos on this thread and are not artistic at all. However, they are somewhat fun, and interesting:

Image quality sucks on this one because I downloaded it off my instagram

I've posted this before, but never got any answer as to WTF it is. "Hellraiser Room".

Those're unbroken snap ties used in the concrete form process. Contractor probably thought it didn't matter (since secret tunnels and whatnot) and saved a bit of time, creating your Hellraiser™ room.

That makes perfect sense, I buy that 100%. Case closed. I'm quite inquisitive, to a fault - it truly bothered me not knowing.... Thanks!
