This is my first post on here, and these were taken with a cell camera, they're not that great, but I found this site interesting. This is a former control site for a Nike Missile Base that was part of a defense ring around a major city during the Cold War. The location where the missiles were stored/launched in a few miles away and in use. Eventually this was used as a National Guard Center until abandoned around 1996. The night photos are of 2nd base in this region which is partially used.I also am not sure why 5,6, and 8 are sideways, but they are what I think to be some kind of guard/equipment/radar platform.

Cool spot! We've got a ton of em down where I live. If you put your pictures somewhere else like flickr or google photos and then put the url into this using [ img][ /img](without the spaces) then the pictures will look a lot nicer. I mainly post in the photography thread because that's mainly what I do but if you're pictures are just documenting your explore then I think they'll do better in the main thread or your area's thread. I don't have much experience with it though so just see what works best for you. All in all, that looks like it was a great explore on a nice gloomy day. I look forward to seeing more stuff from you!

Yeah, those elevated platforms are were some of the RADAR antennas were. The lit-up white ball in #12 & #13 are of an active FAA-operated RADAR site. You can go to this web page to learn more about the location you visited, as well as other Nike sites in the region: http://www.ed-thelen.org/loc.html /-/ooligan
