This is not really anything abandoned, but the gate was open and a guy cutting on some pipe saud I could take a few photos. It is not everyday I see a reactor unit of catalyst cracker and a complete decommissioned pressure vessel.
The larger 100'+ high pressure vessels can weigh over 100 tons. The the large peace with all the little holes is part of the CCU, once oil is pressurized and heated it can be divided up on the molecular level. You can then add other components to it to turn it into motor oil, gasoline, diesel, kerosene, aviation kerosene or jet fuel, plastics, pretty much anything that is made from petroleum.

Yes, that is just one part of the much larger unit. I think this place is a scrap yard, one end has partially dismantled pressure vessels, pumps and blowers, the other end is just piles of stainless steel and other metals.
