My First Find! Old dilapidated forest commune

I Have been looking to find an original spot to post after a few months of lurking on the site, and I think I have discovered one! I have been hiking many times in the hills near my house and have found a few baffling OOPArts scattered around the woods. On my latest Trek I stumbled upon what I believe is an old commune or possibly and abandoned pot farm. I only had my phone camera on hand on this trip on account of the rain but hope to go back soon with a better camera. 1.

Local, original finds are the best! Good job.

What makes you think this is a pot farm?

In picture 4 you can see a soft plastic cover that is falling apart. Under closer inspection we figured it was an old hydroponics room or small Greenhouse, along with this there is a nearby dump of almost exclusively plastic planter boxes. Obviously all speculation but at least a firm basis.

Who knows, pot farms and communes aren't mutually exclusive lol, maybe it was both.

It's not big, but the fact that it makes you think it may be a pot farm makes it all the more interesting.

Went back again this last weekend to see if I could find a safe way in to the half collapsed trailer and found some luck, along with some very interesting things contained within. For Those keeping up with my pot farm narrative, after doing some digging I found an article from almost a decade ago detailing an arrest of a man growing pot off the road that this spot is located. (for those more interested feel free to message me for the potential link, I don't want to give the spot away with too many details). Upon inspecting the trailer I found an array of abandoned items including an old gun and prescriptions from the early 2000's. This find got more mysterious the more I searched and it reminded me not to forgot to "take your time" ;)

This isn't in Alderpoint, California, is it?

What an interesting place...I love these random locations rotting away in the woods. The gun in pic 7 is pretty cool, though it looks like it's very out of commission. Thanks for sharing!

Nope, That is more than a few hours north of where this is. I saw your post regarding Hicks road and you're closer than you think if you're located near there.

Awesome find! There are a ton of these up in the gold country area, but many are still booby-trapped, especially the old farms on National Forest land! Cool find!

Ah, I've got a whole bunch of scraggly looking shelters like this marked all over the Loma Prieta area on my google maps, I've just been looking around randomly on satellite view but your post makes me want to finally take a drive up there. Thanks for sharing, cool pics!

EDIT: Holy shit I just saw the part about the gun, wow that's crazy. Definitely stay safe up there. If you know of a certain abandoned camp in the hills around Saratoga (speaking of which, I just saw that that location is public on the DB, shouldn't that be private?), I remember reading on a UER post here that there was an incident around a decade ago where several growers got caught up on that road, and one was shot dead.

Speak of the devil, I just made a post about that camp in the hills in the paranormal activity thread haha. That place was definitely creepy and left me with the Heebie jeebies, especially knowing the history of the spot.

Still booby-trapped? I haven't heard of anything like that, what kind of traps have you come across? I want to make sure to stay sharp to make sure I don't find myself ensnared by a trap.

I love finding old trailer homes like this, in my experience they're usually a lot more untouched and in better shape than the normal abandoned houses I've seen.. although I guess the one here is pretty destroyed! I love the 7th pic

I do a lot of surveying on National Forest land, so I've only come across a few. We typically can't survey until after our Law Enforcement Officers clear the areas, but I've hit fishing line trip wires that led to "wind chimes" that would let growers know we were coming. I've also found closed bear traps along trails to abandoned grow sites (can't use bear traps to hunt up here). With that being said, most of the areas I conduct surveys in have been uninhabited for some time.

However, our LEO's always seem to find the gnarliest stuff. The one I remember most is an old shotgun mounted to a tree that had a trip line running to the trigger. When they found it the gun was unloaded, but the trip wire was still intact. That's the kind of stuff that makes me really second guess entering some of the abandoned sites I come across.
