Not by a long shot... and -all- the PMs from other FMs I'm seeing about you aren't positive, to put it mildly.

Its whatever. You're gonna friends, you're gonna have enemies ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ as long as my fan base is strong, enemies don't really matter to me.
Take nothing but Nazi VHS tapes, leave nothing but footprints, drink nothing but Dos Equis. Stay thirsty my friends. | |

That's exactly the problem, you see... Most explorers on here aren't here for the "fanbase". They're on here because for most of them, exploring is more than just a hobby, it's a way of life. To you OP, it seems like you were only looking for something that will make you popular (you must've been bullied in high school, right?) and therefore decided to jump on the bandwagon, probably after having watched a video from Exploring with Josh. Youtube and Insta explorers (and everything else putting UE under the mainstream spotlight) are killing the hobby for everyone else. Remember: Location preservation > one explorer > fanbase. Please don't put fame before location preservation.

Exactly. For much of the community, fame doesn't even factor into it. Most of the members of UER never post their coolest stuff, for fear of getting it publicized. I (and I'd wager most people here) have some stuff that could get us thousands of views instantly, and it'll never see the light of day because we prioritize protecting locations over pleasing fans. In fact, a decent chunk of the community isn't even on UER because it's too mainstream- they stick to private forums where even viewing them requires moderator approval. Only a small circle will ever know their names, and an even smaller number will be privy to the most daring, ambitious, and impressive locations. Some locations will never be known except to those who explored them- a secret they'll take to the grave. This hobby is one that thrives in the shadows of society. Throwing a spotlight on it only leads to ruin.
