Hi, my first post here...this is amazing! I am curious if anyone knows the history of the old grotto outdoor pool at this location: 37.199202, -121.900026 It's located within Mid-Peninsula Open Space District land, and is accessible by going around the gate at the head of a fire road that comes off Reynolds Road, which is off Hicks Road. This is adjacent to Almaden Quicksilver Park, which has a lot of information on this site due to its rich mining history (mine shafts and tunnels, yay!). I have some images that I will upload here soon. Thanks, I already love this site.

Is it a pool? It looks pretty large considering the size of the houses next to it. I'm only looking at it from mobile though, so it might not be displayed very well.

Yes, it's a natural outdoor pool, fed by a creek, with a diving board and ladder, light, etc. You can see for yourself:
Dig a little digging and it's on property that used to be called the Hicks Creek Ranch. Lots of horse stables up the hill, too, but which look a lot newer than this rundown pool that looks like it might have hosted silent film stars back in the day.

Cool ranch! Are the surrounding ranch buildings abandoned? I don't know if this helps, but using the county parcel viewer gives this map for the coordinates:

Some advice b/c you are brand new here: we typically never share exact coordinates, road names, entry details and especially the exact name for a location in any thread on this forum. I read your introduction post in the other thread and since you're ex-military I'm sure you'd understand how important secrecy is, mostly so places you find don't get destroyed by disrespectful instagram children. btw we're both in the same general area in the bay area region, welcome aboard.
