Many of the people that live(d) on Heidelberg didn't exactly appreciate it, and understandably so. It brought all sorts of tourist traffic to the area, but it's not like it really created any revenue or benefited the locals.

The only time I was given any grief was when I was flying my drone overhead. One of the occupants told me I was breaking the law, that there was a no drone policy posted, and I was in violation of people's privacy. When I landed my drone I asked what law I was breaking, where that policy was posted, and how I could be violating people's privacy when there is no expectation of privacy in a public space with other people with closer cameras on the ground. When he couldn't give me any answers, he said it was a respect issue.
Respectful conversation, but he was wrong on all counts. I wasn't in the mood to argue so I left. I can avoid that next time by standing two blocks away when flying.

As long you aren't creating a hazard and there are no ordinances, it's the same as shooting from a public street.
They don't have airspace rights.
However arguing with subjects when shooting is almost always counterproductive.
If someone was in a compromised position such as nude sunbathing I wouldn't shoot it.
People can get funny over kids as well.
Using sound judgement can save you a lot of trouble; if it seems like a bad idea, it probably is.

If the drone was flying over public property that wouldn't be a violation is my interpretation.

Wow, great photos! I was at the Heidelberg Project a few weeks ago. I noticed they had a few signs up regarding photography rules. I questioned the legality of some of them myself.

I highly encourage you to go. Both times have been phenomenal even though they were largely unplanned.
Take a bunch of photos, share them here on UER, and let me know what you thought!
