I know - distracting from subject, out of focus, not centered, etc. I am not a photographer, and don't even own a camera. Shot from my cell phone....

Give abandonment a reason for its sacrificial reclamation to nature. Love it. Remember it. Take a picture. Share it. Leave the decay to nature.

Nice photos! That part of UW Madison's campus is always good for a bit of poking around. I've made a couple half-hearted attempts to get into the turrets of the Red Gym, but I always get turned around inside. That building is harder to navigate than the Humanities building.

I've also heard that the roof and basement of the Orpheum are worth the trip, though I haven't made any serious efforts to access those yet. Bascom Hall has an old theater stage that was partially walled up when they converted the audience sections and part of the front stage into a lecture hall, and rumor has it there's the burned remnants of a wooden water reservoir that saved the building from a fire when it burned through and emptied its contents onto the building below.

There's lots of little campus legends like these that make for an interesting time if you're inclined to investigate them. It's no abandoned factory or hospital, but the history here makes for some fascinating stories nonetheless.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

The Madison pics are from over the weekend. I did very little exploring inside the campus buildings, as I am still recovering and can't stay on my feet too long. I'd love to return though. The big red gym sure did look inviting!

I wanted to get into the basement in The Ruby Marie Hotel, but one entrance was alarmed (possibly fake - didn't spend too much time investigating) and the other in direct view of the bartender at Up North....
