I'm new to this website but I've been exploring for about 12 years, and taking photos for roughly 5. I don't know if this spot has been shared before, but I couldn't find any posts resembling it. It's a portion of a mining town that is on property owned by the mining company. The mine is still active, as far as I know - at least it was in 2017. It was one of the eeriest places I've been, but also one of the most beautiful because I pretty much just hiked around until I found stuff. These pictures were from my visit in '17. I might go back again next month while I'm in the area. (I live in Oregon.)

My favorite view was from the cemetery. On the opposite hill were the mine and a church. Both were active, but the church didn't congregate on days when the mine was operating because of air quality & debris issues. I'd read the owners of each had deals with each other. But I also read that by the end of next year, the church will be gone.

It was clear families still visit their loved ones, but some of the grave markers were ill-maintained. I don't know what's going to happen to the cemetery as the nearby town becomes further deserted.

There were already several abandoned buildings, in serious disrepair.

I'm excited to visit with my new camera! Maybe I can get some better shots.

Looks like great fun.
Old company towns are interesting.
Read the names on the grave markers.
What ethic group(s) were they? What era?
Markers from around 1918 you'll see the spike in deaths from the Spanish flu pandemic.
