The Rottenest Hospital

I don't really know why I have a habit of finding myself in some of the most unstable buildings around, but I do.

This place is right up there at the very top of the list, it's one of the most ridiculously rotten buildings I've ever set foot in. Riddled with both wet rot from the water ingress through the roof and dry rot on the parts not soaked with water, it's a crazy place to try and navigate. I had to enter and exit the building through three different access points to try and get around it but even then I didn't see it all, as one of the connecting corridors was simply a carpet held up by the rotten skirting boards on either side which I didn't fancy!

However on the plus side (as there always has to be a plus side!), it's in a level of decay that I absolutely love, and I would have spent longer inside if there was no ever-present threat of falling through a floor. I didn't even entertain the thought of trying to get upstairs either!

5 - this one was the sketchiest. I climbed through an empty window frame to get into this room from the outside, and after taking this photo headed forward and through the doorway on the right where the fallen door is. I took two steps into the hallway and realised that the stairs I needed to take down to the lower floor were gone. Literally gone. So I was standing in a totally unsupported hallway. I noped the hell out of there so fast and then found access point #3 a little further along.

Beyond that point in the last photo the stairs up were half collapsed and the hallway floor was a carpet held up by thin air...so we called it a day and left!

What an absolutely gold location. 5 and 10 are my favorites, great lighting on those and throughout. Definitely a scary moment when you realize just how lucky you are to not already be injured.

My heart was in my mouth when I saw that all I was standing on was a sheet of linoleum and some rotten wood for sure haha.

If I wasn't as weighty as I am I would have made a more thorough attempt at crossing the saggy floor however I decided discretion is better than valour so walked away with limbs intact....

I can't believe how you manage to come away from these places in one piece. But, im so glad you do, and have the photos to show for it. Please never press your luck too far. I really enjoy all the various locales you make it to and most probably you should be issued an UE award for all you have accomplished in the past few years, Love the exterior pic #1 and 7, 10 and 12.

My God, that place is gnarly! What an incredible find! It's great to hear (or read, in this case) that you are okay.
