Who's going to go for the glory and be the first to climb 108 rungs to the top? http://dailyhive.c...-ladder-public-art
It doesnt matter how you die. But only how you live. |

lol I'm good! I'm fine just waiting here seeing who does it first. Pretty random 'art' piece imo

UER should crowdfund for a bounty; this is clearly a game between us and the installers of this artwork. Seriously though 100% the battle between the authorities vs climbers is an intentional aspect of this artwork. Really cool piece actually; I applaud the city for being ballsy enough to install it.

It was privately funded. Who knows how much city approval they actually needed. There's obviously a good 10+ ft of slick non-climbable structure... here's what you do. Get a climbing rope, two harnesses and a belay device. Have your belayer heavier than your climber. Attach something to one end of the rope to help you toss it through the rungs. Tie climber to one end, toss rope through the first rung a few feet up, then take the weight of the climber via belay device and help them scale the first section. I imagine it's only a matter of time.

Honestly 10ft isn't even tall enough to justify a rope attack. I'm 6ft tall, so my shoulders are probably 5ft tall. If you get someone of my height to be a base, anyone can easily reach the top of the glass guard, since you'd only need to get up another 5ft at that point. https://www.youtub...atch?v=WeIBh8QYVh4 These guys have 4 team members for 15 feet, so I think 10 feet should be doable with 2 people, maybe 3 if you're short lol.

I'd free climb the bitch. I-beam side climb past the guard then climb it like a straight ladder. That will be so owned...
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

This ladder... I'd imagine it has to be pretty strong just to hold its own weight, but would it support the weight of a human? I don't plan on being the one to find out!

Lol, it looks sketchy I'm rather curious how much sway it has in high wind gusts. It has to be able to withstand at least 100 mph wind if not more. Plus ice loading. Seeing what it resembles the designer had to know someone would climb it eventually if not themselves already. How many could it hold? Oh my. It's going to sway. As long as it doesn't get excessive and it's not windy the loading will be mostly straight down. After more than 2 or 3 feet sway at the top I probably bug out. Don't be surprised if there's a security system in place. Maybe a smartcam with a telephoto lense up to 1000 yards out. Even at a 1000 feet it be very hard to spot unless they wanted you to. Challenging no? It's a bloody dare.

Sounds dumb. It'd probably would jump break under your weight, anyway.
