Alabama coal something? I keep looking at this one and wondering if its a good composition or not, probably a bad sign. Im pretty interested to see what people have to say on this one. 1.

both are pretty devoid of actual subjects, but photography of places like this is very difficult

One trick I sometimes do with regards to composition is to look that the image blurry. If its still an interesting image blurry, you got yourself a composition. Thats just what I do. Might not work for everyone.

Try to frame angled line(s) so they intersect the corner(s). Pan in on #2 to catch the lines in the corners.
