What would happen if you explored a drain force main?

This is a question that's been on my mind for a while. What would happen if you explored a drain force main, like the ones in LA along the river (assuming the pumps are on)?

I'm sure that not much would happen, but still my curiosity is killing me about this.

As i understand them, they are almost always an iron pipe that is too small to explore and they are also going to be full of pressurized water/sewage (unless they have been abandoned).

If made of iron even if boned dry the iron scale can release hydrogen sulfide in lethal amounts if disturb.
Confined spaces are very dangerous...

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.
