Finally got some free time before hurricane Florence hit to go check out this abandoned school in Linden, NC. 1.) Exterior shot of the school, beautiful front steps/entry.
2.) Upon entering, I was presented with old kitchen equipment, decaying away.
3.) More Kitchen equipment.
4.)A Classroom.
5.) A Classroom holing many old seats that students would have sat in.
6.)The main entrance, which was propped shut from the inside.
7.) Upstairs hallway
8.) Same upstairs hallway, but taken from the other end, facing the stairs.
9.) An upstairs bathroom, something in the attic fell through the floor and took the entire room into the basement. (This debris is in the background of Image #2)
10.)The library, still full of books. (Which apparently were on the shelves a year ago, someone has come a thrown them all on the floor.)
During hurricane Florence, the entire town of Linden, NC was evacuated. I'm not sure how this school took the hurricane. The Lighting in this place as it neared sunset outside was phenomenal! I will hopefully be able to get out, explore and post more soon Thanks all for checking this out!

Cool little school, I love the smaller ones that never really get disturbed.

I loved that little school. I hope I can make it back some day. Hopefully it doesn't get blown up and trashed by people finding it based on the town. No shots of the pigeon shit rooms? Lol Here's what the library room looked like 5 years ago. 1.

Also looks like someone may have turned the seats around. 1.

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time. Z.B.S. Halevi -- Kabbalah | |

Haha no pigeon shit room for me, the whole third floor looks really unstable now and I really didn't want to step too far off the steps.

Great set; it's hard to pick a favorite but I really like the library and the old desks. And the peely paint...I love peely paint! I'm up in Greensboro, about 2 hours away, I've heard of this school, I need to go check it out soon. Hopefully it survived the worst of Florence's inland storms...I'd heard the integrity of the upper floors was questionable at best anyway. Thanks for sharing!

Where did you park? I saw a small park a few miles east from there...I hate to park 'on site' unless there's no other option. Looks rather secluded on satellite tho.

Had the same dilemma, and had to park on-site.

That's a good explore, I enjoyed it and came away with some nice pics when I hit it a few years ago. Nice series of shots!
