I found a location online, most people called it a warehouse, so I was interested. I finally got out there (and by finally I mean like 3 weeks ago) and it was pretty empty. Looking around at the shape of the foundation and the train rails I think it was a loading station for trains back in the day.
Anyway, here are the shots that I took, not much to see, but I tried my best.
1. The new-er, modern tracks and the outside of the building
2. Almost completely empty
3. These same words are all over the place... Don't understand them
4. Would have been a cool shot would it have been in focus, kill me

6. Truck loading?
There was some cool stuff though!

Too many images and 1,4,5,9 and 10 aren't keepers.
#5 the ap setting is way too wide open; f/5.6-8.0 would have yielded better results with the light spot play. The wide aperture setting blurred the background; it would have looked better with it.
#10 is poorly framed, focus point is lower mid frame; foreground is out of focus with no benefit to the image, and should have probably been shot at f/5.6 or higher.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

Seems like a pretty cool place to explore!
Critique:
I like the shot with the chair, but I think the light spot in the bottom left corner is really distracting. If you could have framed the chair a bit closer, or angled away from the light spot the shot would be really cool.
The other shot I didn't like so much was the pants. This might be a personal taste thing, but the leg going out of the frame really bugs me.
Cool shots though! I really like the tire swing shot.

I'm realizing, maybe a bit late, that I should have split this post up with the good shots here and the more general shots on the local forums. I do agree with you on some of your critiques, and I appreciate it!

There's nothing wrong with documentary shots; sometimes your not interested in a shot for art's sake but to simple remember it or use latter as reference.
I've keep a lot of throw aways because of the above.
Best to get in the habit of framing a shot even if it's just a last second thing.
No way to correct a badly framed shot.
Generally it's best to square off a shoot as you're framing it on at least on one side with cam height equal to the optical center of the frame.
Remember to grab your focus point lock up before you shoot. A red laser pointer is useful for getting an AF lock up in low light.
Shooting in full manual mode helps you learn and can grab better shots especially in low light otherwise AP mode.
Many times I've past on shots because I knew they would look bad. Sometimes there's a telephone pole and wires lousing up what could of been a good shot, cars in the way, bad lighting etc.
It's a learning curve...
#2, 6, and 8 are squared off nicely.
Try shooting on the rail or slightly to the side.
Grabbing reflections off the top of rail is fun too especially at dawn/dusk and night.
Always stay alert on active rails, avoid high speed rails completely.

The 535nm ones work best. The cam's AF is very sensitive to it. Works even 100's of yards out for getting fast lock ons.
