This bridge is in Barton, WI near West Bend. It is a pin-connected, 7-panel Pratt through truss bridge built in 1891. It was a single lane wooden deck bridge. Somewhere along the end of its life, the tire to deck contact points were covered with steel diamond plate. It received rehab work in 1979. According to bridgereports.com, it appears it was closed to traffic in 1998. Kudzu vine is taking the entire span over and it is just stunning. Absolutely worth the visit if you are in the area. The EPIC Suckow Mill built in 1857 is on the other side of the bridge. When I was married and shopping for our second home, circa 2005, we looked at an abandoned church and the Suckow Mill to convert into a home. Both required far more work than our budget would allow past the mortgage. The mill was especially a wreck inside, vandalized and covered in penis'. I am unsure, but but based on what I could see in the windows from the street, it now houses a seamstress' business and an artist's studio. Perhaps they are the same person. The neighbor's dog and Dodger the Urbex dog barking bloody murder at each other prevented further exploring.

Give abandonment a reason for its sacrificial reclamation to nature. Love it. Remember it. Take a picture. Share it. Leave the decay to nature.
