I havent seen any discussion, but I would like to make an announcement. Starting today 7/17, Grossingers, in upstate NY is being demolished. I read the sad news on FB last night. https://www.facebo...roups/grossingers/ I am glad I was able to see it while it stood.
Pictures from my visit a few years back http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post6 Sad, because the main building that was never finished could have been saved, along with a few other buildings on the property. I wonder what will take its place.

Ugggh, damn. Shocked it stood for as long as it did and not shocked after some @$$hole torched the booth out front. With what was left of Tamarack gone you have to assume The Pines is next....

Another icon lost. I think many of us in the Northeast cut our exploring teeth in this one. I visited here back in 2014 and again in 2015. Sad to see it go, but she was a shell of what she once was. I am curious to know what happened to the sputnik lights that hung in the pool room. They disappeared sometime last year. I hope they were saved by someone and will turn up again. I always loved those things.

When was the booth torched? I have heard about the Pines but never visited...is it worth the trip?

So sad to see it finally go. This was the location that spurred me on to make my first trip across to the USA. That place which I simply had to see, even though it was a ruined shell. It was all about that pool for me...

Anyone who lives close who can check out and/or document the demolition? I wish I was closer, or I would take a ride up there.

You'd have to have a pretty big space but they really were beautiful, even when the rest of the joint was not.

Was actually thinking the same thing. This place stuck around for far too long.

Is there *any* asbestos abatement taking place here?
Colours, LINKS, images, etc are not allowed, text and LINKS only. Emphasis mine. |
