Ford has announced they have purchased this building. Finally someone with real money that can properly re-purpose this building. They plan to turn in into some sort of technology center. I would imagine (and hope) little will be done to the building architecture or the grand hall.

They are buying up other buildings in the neighborhood, and plan to relocate their autonomous and electric vehicle teams to the area. Between Michigan Central and some other locations, Ford says they plan to have 2500 employees working in the neighborhood by 2020, with accommodations for up to 5000.

I sure hope after they have restored and moved in, they offer tours!!

Give abandonment a reason for its sacrificial reclamation to nature. Love it. Remember it. Take a picture. Share it. Leave the decay to nature.

FINALLY!!

GREAT NEWS for the City of Detroit. It's going to be great to watch how that rough & desolate area within about a mile or so radius does once Ford gets busy there. Gentrification for sure!

I used to love about 2 miles away from GCS & could view it out of my 23rd floor window -- occasionally seeing UE'ers partying up on the roof, etc. & it was amazing to drive around that area and looking at all the abandonments & ruins, and the few structures that were still legitimately inhabited were particularly fascinating to study, wondering who would want to work/live there, why, and how they survive.

P.S. PHUCK YOU MATTY MAROUN!
