This happened last fall, but the pictures are from a couple weekends ago. Sorry, some are blurry.
- Headed upstream -
- New graffiti -
- Heading downstream -
- Doorstep no more -
At least the workers left the 'For Rent' sign up!! “Beautiful Sewer View!! Free rats. Friendly Neighbors.”

No need! The cinder block in that picture used to be the doorstep

Doorstep from ? A building ? The outside world ?? Intrigued....

Pretty cool. I always wanted to explore a tunnel by canoe.
Cody here exploring everything! |

Did something happen that made them decide to block it off?

Really curious to know what prompted you to take a canoe down there. (i.e. if you already knew what you would find or if it was just random)

Sorry about being coy, but some folks are sensitive about others revealing too much info and I'd prefer to avoid any ill-will being new to this site.

There used to be a hang-out spot behind the newly-built wall. I actually don't remember the cinder block being there before (maybe because water was higher?) and used to just haul myself over the wall without it at that same spot.

Basically more people were canoeing in the tunnel. I'll PM you with specific reasons why.

I "found" this spot a couple years ago. I knew about the tunnel from maps, but didn't know what to expect. Coming around the corner, I thought it might be some hobo's home. The mannequin scared the shit out of me the first time I popped over the wall!

I will also add that e.coli has been found in the tunnel recently, and when I visited the now-blocked-off location last fall, the ground was covered in mold. Not a super-friendly place for casual visitors.

Do you mean parts of it further in or locked up? I went there tonight and at least the main entrance or outfall is at still open. I was about to wade in there but I dropped a hundred and thirty pound weight on my foot last week. My toe is swollen in the toenail is about to fall off. I decided with rumors of E coli maybe I'll find a raft. http://imgur.com/S2CnueN

Had a good time in this chill spot last winter! I wonder if the workers removed everything that was there before building that wall. If not, that would make a funny time capsule if someone decides to reopen it many years from now!
Vade in cloacas. |

Nevermind, I know what your talking about now. I misunderstood and thought they blocked the whole thing off.

good times in this drain! if i can ever round some pics up from somewhere in my computer ill post photos chronologically from 2013-current time and show the evolution of the chill room. the chill spot was always a awesome hang out but it became a lot cooler thanks to some hard work from some fine folks around the cities. unfortunately the city was already planning work on this system and when they found the chill room they were less than thrilled. RIP

Interesting factoid -- Just as the "chill room" has now been blocked off with cinder blocks (right in below figure), it seems that the same was done to the other side of the drain sometime in the past (left in below figure). There seems to be some history behind this part of the drain.

I see it's still for rent too. I wonder if his price has come down yet?
