You should've stood in the center of the light in #2...it would've given in a heroic moment feeling

Keep in mind how the viewers eyes travel along the image. People always see the brightest parts first. In #1, my eye goes right to that sun spot on the floor. There is nothing interesting about the sun spot, it is just a pure white blob. Try to make sure the brightest part of the image is either the subject or a key part in the composition.
