Abandoned Psych Hospital in NY

So this is an explore I did some time ago. This is apparently a well known location to some of the people around town, but definitely my first explore here and first hospital in general. Most of the pictures are from the main building, but it is inside a large campus with many other abandoned and non-abandoned buildings. My apologies for crappy phone pictures.

I. On first sight, these building don't seem in bad shape or maybe even functional, save for the boarded up window and door decor reminding us these went out of style decades ago.

II. In fact, just about all abandoned buildings were boarded up and boarded up gud. Of course, that only meant we had to check out the sexies some more.

III. Luckly, these parking signs warned us not to drive through the fences and try to park near the buildings.

IV. After all, there's kind of a large tree growing right in the middle of the parking lot and what not.

V. After growing board of all the bored-up windows/doors, we lucked out and finally found ourselves a gate to Narnia. As it turns out, Narnia has a lot more junk laying around than what your average fan-fic would have you believe.

VI. The entire first floor seemed oddly active with a mix of old and modern junk. With boarded up windows, no flashlight (I know I know...) and a potential visitor of the dark realm (squatter), we chose to ditch that floor and went upstairs.

VII. Besides, you can't run into a painting like this and not feel you've been warned

VIII. This racoon ignored the painting and well...

IX. The top floor was bretty good to be honest. It had these fenced-up balcony areas at the end of every hall. It provided a nice destination while going through the largely empty upper halls. Nice views as well.

X. Sadly, we had only explored the place for about 20 minutes before sunset started knocking our way. Knowing just one exit point (our POE), and that it was in the floors below, we had to cut the explore short. But not without a nice going-away party.

Anyway, hope my little story was of some interest. Frankly, I barely tapped the surface of this place given that it had 4 stories and wrapped around at least on three different wings. I'm hoping to visit again sometime now that I'm back in town, but we'll see. Probably need some flashlights first...

Last photo is depressing. That building used to be a great explore, and it went to total raped shit in about six months.

It's been all over Instagram... Aren't there other nice buildings on the property?

Instagram? I've always avoided social media like a plague but I'm interested how and in what way photos of these place are shared. Mind elaborating for this deliberately un-social-medialized person?

tldr idiots post photos of places and names of the locations, hashtag the shit out of them so they appear in all sorts of places and then that opens the floodgates for all the other kinds of idiots to go in and ruin them.

Holy shit, did you do this on all other wings of the area as well or just that one? Because if so, I can totally see how it went from looking fairly pristine to an over-tagged trashed victim. It's really a loss.

If that is the place I am thinking of, last time I went to check it out, it was sealed pretty good. At least one of the buildings was. Never been inside, but I did hear about some bums that inhabit the place.
