Good looking truck but man I miss small trucks. I remember when you needed something between a S-10 and a F- 150 ya got a Dakota. Now Dakotas seem small compared to the small trucks offered today.

my beef with the Colorado... no manual shift option and its price... when nicely equipped, the sticker rivals that of a Silverado.
and it's not really a compact truck... no one makes a compact truck anymore.
Colorado and Tacoma are huge compared to their forerunners, the S10 and Hilux.

yeah the no manual shift does suck, i think you can on a base base model with a 4 banger. i got it for a good deal new at 34k$. but i do agree its bigger than an s10 but that comes with a bigger tow cap too. full size is only for guy who can spend 50k plus

my neighbor leased a 2017 Silverado extended cab in August... sticker on the truck was $54k... my house wasn't even that much! lol
my brother was telling me about some kid at work that just bought a fully loaded Silverado 2500 diesel... sticker was around $75k... it's financed for like 84 months... that's not a car payment. that's a mortgage!

jeez thats nuts, i did look at the ZR2 trim for the colorado but at 52k$ it was way too steep, im happy at the price i paid plus its a good little truck and for a V6 its really surprising me for mileage, its easily 30% better than my old SUV wich funny enough had the same engine in it

I also miss small trucks- hence the Mazda/Ranger thing. They seem to be the only ones left, and it still took me a month and a bit to find a decent one. I wanted a Tacoma but need to sink some more money into the house before that happens!

love my b4000... but the complaints people have about the brakes are real, and here in the rust belt... you go to change a wheel cylinder you wreck your brake line... and so it goes.

Oh and Mazda still tells me not to drive it until ive replaced the drivers airbag... its been over a year

we've done brakes on my nephews 2005 Ranger three times in the three years we've had it. Universal joints have been changed twice. Now, he says its pulling to the right... hello tie rods and ball joints.

My ranger pulls to the left. I did the wheel hub and now they tell me it’s the front differential

he was talking about fixing it up, but honestly, it's beyond that. There is significant corrosion on the frame at the front of the rear spring shackles, one of the box mounts has broke due to corrosion, the door are getting very rotten and the truck itself has 140,000 miles on it. I told him that something is about to fail and start looking for a replacement vehicle. He was actually saddened by this because he loves that old truck of his.

i recently discovered rock auto and it changed my life.

...also bummed about how much bigger trucks are getting. the new ford ranger is going to be like the size of a colorado.

i feel like more and more people are buying trucks because they're "cool", and not for utilitarian purposes. my neighbor, who probably drives 100 miles OFF the highway a year, just bought a brand new tacoma 4x4 TRD for like 41k.

yeah the people who buy those are dumb, i know its wanting to look cool but if you have no use for it there is no point. I put at least 3000KM a year off road a year and my truck is perfectly adequate for that. i do think trucks could be smaller, but in the case of the old for and mazda trucks i would love to have one too, but its far too small for me, cant fit in it

yeah it's just funny. dude got the tundra for "occasional off-roading", he wasn't thrilled when he realized a 4 cylinder tacoma would have made infinitely more sense for a fraction of the price (he wants to get into rock climbing).

i think the true "compact" truck is not long for this world. i assume the new ranger will be classified as a a mid-size (like the 2nd & 3rd gen tacomas)

the thing with the Ranger is that in other parts of the world, despite it being a bit bigger than the North American predecessor, it's actually a pretty capable little truck.

We had a nice low mileage 2016 Tacoma with the 4 cylinder traded in at my work. I was super interested in it until I drove it. I've seen e-bikes with better performance figures. Mileage isn't anything to write home about, either. It's $1600 more to get the V6 on a base model.
