Abandoned Airfield

I came across this abandoned airfield on my way home from a trip to Asheville. It's in pretty good condition considering it was abandoned in the early 80's. There was still one small plane on the site with a storage area and main building. The cracked runway looked amazing with the mountains in the background.

Nice find. Were you able to get any cool shots from the cockpit? Abandoned airfields are one of my favorites especially if you're you can get shots of the control panels in old planes.

If you grabbed a pic of the tail of the plane, you should Google the number and see if it sheds any light on the plane and it's history

Damn, I recently did a video there. It is right behind where I used to live.

How did you find this place? I mean, if you're traveling from Asheville to Chattanooga? Well, you certainly won't see it from any known road. Yeah, it's known heavily by the local folk. Even through the local town, you have to like know where it is and where you're going. No way you'd be finding that unless you know what to look for, knew someone in the area, or have been driving around all the local backroads.

I also did a video of a nearby lumberyard.

I had read about an abandoned airfield in that area online but couldn't find any specific location. I used google satellite and took my chances!
