Updating DB Entries in Areas I don't Reside

Posted on Forum: UER ForumQuote
I'm taking a cruise with the parental unit (Her treat, she wanted to do something with me before I started working). Anyway, I've been doing some research on places I can visit where I'm going, and combing the DB, and at least one place I've found is almost certainly demolished and gone, based on street view imagery.

I feel hesitant to update the location, because the most I know about it is that it got demolished. Would it be appropriate to make a thread on the DB page reporting that update and providing Streetview imagery so someone with more knowledge can fill in the info gaps, or should I go the full length and mark the entry as demolished?

One day I got a good camera.

It is allowed for you to update the info. If you really want you can probably see the usernames of previous contributors so you can alert them.

Did you? If you added only accurate information, nobody has the right to complain. Unless, possibly, if you make an entry publicly viewable before it is totally ready, I could maybe see that being an issue. Otherwise, you are in the right.

I know everyone is super sensitive these days, I hope I didn't harm your self-esteem or cause you too much mental anguish with my "flack".

if youre going to change the status of a db entry please use the pull down menu for that field don't just type the word Demolished

the coding of the accessibility is effected by that so I changed it for you

I hope youre right...

We have a lot of members exploring by satellite now and when they cant find a building they mark it as demolished without considering that maybe the map or the address or whoever added the pin to the map was wrong.

I don't check the DB anymore so change whatever you feel you need to.

Our UEDB Moderator hasn't logged in for over a year.

So for updating locations, click on the name of the creator and see when they last logged in. If they regularly login to UER, contact them first. If they haven't been on the site for a long time, it's probably safe to assume they don't care any more.

The DB entry for this famous place was created by someone that hasn't logged into UER in almost 5 years.

Good point on inactive users. Mike stepped down from that role, and the other moderators handle the LDB these days.

Don't worry about it! Thanks for the replies. I haven't been able to check up on things in the interweb, so I just saw all this now. I went to an abandoned beachside resort today. Pics when I geet back!
