Posted by MercuryVapor I once camped in the coal tower between battle creek and Kzoo. I was traveling by bike to south haven racing a friend who was starting 12.7 miles closer than I was. but they weren't doing it til morning and I wanted an excuse to camp in the coal tower so I did. I cooked ramen over a camp fire (yeah I know shitty meal) I set out in the morning and beat them by a long shot.

I don't know who that is. who are they? My name is referring to the Mercury vapor lamp which is a common gas discharge light source in security and street lights. it emits a bluish-green to whitish light. reason I did that is because along with urban exploration another one of my hobbies involves vintage and interesting lighting technology. Another reason I like the name is just because it sounds cool in my opinion. Here is an example below. It is a vintage Medium Pressure Mercury Vapor lamp from the early 50's it is a collage image showing different phases of warm up and close ups of the cathodes. in the bottom leftmost and middle images you can see the mercury vapor condensing on the glass. the reason there is a clear spot next to the cathode is because as the lamp warms up more and more of the mercury is vaporized into the arc stream until it hits full brightness. I am an administrator on another forum called "Lighting Gallery" which is a forum dedicated to these sort of things.

Mine isn’t all that fascinating because I haven’t actually explored it yet but I have high hopes of exploring it one day, maybe when the weather is nicer... taking this picture was like so exciting for me, I have heard about it but to finally see it in person, at night, it was just the shadow of something I haven’t conquered yet and to me that’s exciting!

A friend photoshopped it as a joke and now I just use it at times

Mine was a selfie taken in the now renovated into luxury apartments Butler Brothers Building in Downtown Dallas. Not a very interesting photo, but seeing as how there's practically nothing left of the original building and i'm too lazy to change it, so it stays.
AAAAAAAAAAAADVENTURE TIME!!!! |

Mercury Rev is a band, one of the members of that band produced just about all of The Flaming Lips albums. Flaming Lips are much more enjoyable to listen to. But Mercury Rev is one of the only other bands that kind of comes slightly close to being similar if you are into that stuff.

Posted by xNat Mine was intended to be a dumb placeholder, but I kind of ended up liking it. I don't really like photos of myself, so I usually don't end up in photos of my explores so I don't have a particularly cool dp. I might change it eventually.

It is no longer a placeholder. Rip heck snek 2017-2020. The current one is a tunnel I was in a bit back. I've been rather liking the photos people have of them in various locations, so I thought it'd be cool to have one too.

My Great Grandfather's dairy farm where I played as a child. No longer in the family. Kinda run down now and tucked away in hills of upper Vermont.

My pic comes from my first hospital explore at the now demolished (😔) Chatham Hospital...found it on a random Google satellite search, and spent a long, hot day 'splorin it. When I saw the old TV in one of the rooms, I decided to shoot a half-assed selfie.

My first big, and with legal permission(!!), explore had many bathrooms and there's just something about taking a selfie in a busted mirror that I liked the idea of. So here we are with a highly compressed version of it c:

Mirror selfie in a house in an abandoned subdivision in Denver called Stonehouse Farms taken on January 2, 2011. Subdivision is now razed.

I bought a PASGT helmet from a surplus store and jammed it as far down on my head as possible, smashed a pair of goggles on top of my nose and bada bing bada boom- the dumbest looking image I could make. As Shirley McLaine said in The Apartment: "I like it that way, makes me look the way I feel".

it's a picture UER user Boulderdashcci took of me in 2013 inside a state hospital in Massachusetts I was a security guard at.
