I'd certainly love to visit one someday as well. I know that there are several on the Gulf and southern East Coast that were abandoned as a result of hurricane damage, but it will be years before I have the opportunity to visit that part of the country.
"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there. |

I havent got to explore one, but I live on the gulf coast. One day eventually I will get to do it. Would be a blast.

I've visited about 15, and they are generally fun and great for photography, but I would never call them "scary" unless you're hiding from security or something. Clickbait writers are cowards.

Everything is scary on YouTube, Steed. Didn't you know? And when it's not then you just have one of your explore buddies throw some stuff down a hallway and BAM! Instant YTube clickbait. Definitely cowards.

There's one here in WV that is supposed to be haunted because it's built on top of an Indian burial ground. Some people died and now they charge people to go around and look for ghosts and take photo's. https://visitmerce...y.com/lakeshawnee/
Everyone has a dark side, mines just a little more illuminated. |

That would be very interesting

There are two in the UK that are both absolute dogshit and get over-explored and over-exposed by the same brigade of goons and Youtube idiots almost weekly. Oh how we laughed when the Cleveland janitor came over here recently and proclaimed himself the only person to have ever done them or some other bollocks like that.

I did try to get in Kentucky Kingdom when it was closed, but it was closely monitored by the LPD, and they had high security there...or so I was told.

The sad part is some of these youtube kids make tens of thousands of dollars by screwing our community.
Are we living a life that is safe from harm? Of course not, we never are. But that's not the right question. The question is, are we living a life that is worth the harm? |

I managed to get into LeSourdsville Lake Park here in Ohio last fall; sadly all the rides had already been removed, but there were plenty of interesting buildings and a couple of carts and broken arcade machines scattered about. Last I heard a good portion of the land is being turned into an adult campus for some local school.

Awesome shots! I definitively do not have the balls to climb the coaster structures, although that is likely because gravity has tried to kill me several times already and I've decided to stop tempting it.

Went to six flag new orleans a couple years ago. It's cool, but its so trashed to the point where it ruins part of it for me. Also, the security there scared the shit out of me. Standing in the middle of the walkway and a truck with its headlights on is rolling through the park. I doubt they do much but scare people.

I've climbed on a few roller coasters, and they can be quite safe. However, ulive's third picture looks to be climbing on a ferris wheel; that I would not do.

I've done a couple parks in SC, one more of a 'theme park' (no rides) and at the other one I crawled through a hole in the fence and managed only 15 mins. and 40 pics before security got me. My brothers and I explored an old theme park in AR years ago (one we used to go to as kids). We were planning on finding a way to sneak in when a black SUV rolls up, two guys who were meeting with the current property owners that day. We were able to approach the group as they met in the park, and they let us explore. (I don't mind naming these places, but even if I wasn't a noob I don't want to break the handing out location rule) I've heard about that WV park...I'm about 2 hrs from there, I want to check it out, though there isn't much there as I understand (but a super creepy history for sure!). I'm hoping to find an abandoned park soon with the intact rides, especially a roller coaster or creepy ferris wheel...I'd try the New Orleans park, but I've heard there's a bunch of tight security and issues with gators and snakes...

security exists at sfno, but they are super blind.
