River view Mental Hospital

Went to riverview today! Was an awesome time and did some scouting of how we could get in for next time. Got to talk to a security guard there for a bit and he gave us some history and a bit of info on the place. Seems like they had a tour in fall of the whole inside of one of the buildings and the do some "tree tours sometimes" I would be interested in talking to someone if they know any more info about that.

About what the security guard said: SOOOOO He basically said that to even go in the building they need approval from a few different higher ups and if someone was to enter the building that they wouldn't be able to just "go in after them." He also said that there isn't much police/others can do about people entering other then wait for them to come out. There is one other security guard that drives around in a truck and watches people like a hawk so you would need to be cautious of that. He will also nip you for taking photos anywhere on the property (which i understand residents dont want there photos taken). Seems like the best options in terms of buildings would be the center lawn and the crease unit. Both are still somewhat up kept and are not total disasters. West lawn is super bad. Security says that no one will go in there due to the spores and black mold that you can see floating in the air. He also said that floors are caving in and you would easily be able to fall down. There's lots of history on this place and it seems like someone would allow/guide us if there was enough interest. (EDIT) ALSO forgot to mention this. The security guard told me about a group of extensive tunnels under the grounds which all the buildings are connected to. He said that when the police went back down there to check on some things that the police dogs wouldn't budge or move any further then the entrance to them. take it how you want but that seems like a really spooky thing to me since animals seem to be somewhat in tune with spirits and such.

Here are some pictures from our adventure.

I went there a couple months ago and there wasn't much security too focused around the more dilapidated buildings. A couple cars rolled around here and there but hardly anyone was there except for the group of people I was with and the film crew that was down to the very entrance (They never moved from where they were though).

You could easily go inside if you really wanted to, they leave doors open sometimes.

For sure! super easy access on the one building at the very bottom of the hill and the one up from it. But like I say west lawn is defiantly not safe to go into. Would like to see if i could get inside those tunnels though.

One of the security gaurds is a jerk. I walk my dog around their and he is always stopping me to put a leash on. I tell him that i have been coming here way before you were a gaurd here. He is the bald headed dude. Ofcourse now with the traffic and construction i put my dog on the leash on the lower parts of the grounds

Just so everyone is clear, there are no fucking tunnels at river view connecting the buildings. Anyone who has told you this is an asshat and is bullshitting. Having done extensive research on the construction of west lawn Center lawn and north lawn all there are are very small pipe conduits. The floors also aren't "caving in" for them to cave in the 6-8" of reinforced concrete that the floors are made of would have to degrade. There is a 4ft x 2ft hole in the steel truss roof of westlawn but the building isn't falling down.

/end rant

Okay so let me tell you, not to toot my own horn but i am a riverview expert. I have been in every building at least 5 times each. the big abandoned one i have been in 16 times...lol addicted to that place.
Anyways, the point of me saying this, is dont attempt to break into any of the buildings except a couple of them. 95% of the buildings on site are alarmed, silent and/or audible.

Correct except for the tunnel connecting Crease to the building at the back, but it is fairly short. West lawn is looking beyond easy right now. May have to visit it again soon. It's been a few years now.

Just back from West lawn, really sweet explore. Love that old girl, get in while you can, places tend to be locked down, then once again the portal opens and they become easy. Great day, next time I'm bringing a mask.

Good shit, good shit. Basically climbed out the holes in the roof, there's another 4 access ladders I need to check out next time.

There are no tunnels at Riverview. ;)

Gotta love the old asbestos airlock and bags full of discarded abatement gear from when they tried to clean the place up, wish I'd gotten some shots as that's honestly the creepiest place in the whole building IMO. Nothing else really screams "doom" anymore, it's almost all just textures and decay thoroughly abstract from the buildings past now.

First timers at Riverview West Lawn last night. We were lucky there were no security to be seen (and no filming or containers) at about 7:30pm when we entered. They made the regular rounds after 9pm though. We were in the building for about 4-1/2 hours total - Here are some of our fav shots:
