I'm curious if anyone else would know why there isn't any links or information for the Langston Leather Factory that was behind the Stampede Corral on Madison Ave. and Hopps St. As well as the old farm house that once stood at 483 Trussler Road in Wilmot. I remember calling in about the fire burning the farmhouse down when me and some friends headed back from Grand Bend and the Langston factory was my first Urban exploration experience back in 2002. I know these two are old places and definitely dated but just curious if anyone else had the chance to visit these places before it fell and if any pictures should be posted in memory of them. They were definitely some worthwhile experiences, especially Langston.

1. I would say maybe refrain from posting exact addresses on a public thread 2. You might not see any info because you aren't a full member yet. On the UE database there are locations that are only available to full members in an effort to try and preserve them from people who would do harm like vandals, scrappers, taggers... etc

There have been multiple strings of arson burning down farm houses in both western and eastern Ontario, from what I've noticed reading this board. There are a couple people on this forum who live in and around Kitchener-Waterloo. They'd be best able to comment on this.

A sure fire way to get any site trashed or worse is to post it and it's exact location on a public viewable thread for -all- to see. Best to PM members for/with exact info. The web crawlers never sleep...
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

For sure. I wasn't expecting anyone to necessarily comment on this thread, because it's already set up to let information slip. But if this guy wants, he can can seek out the appropriate names and PM them.

I think one of the main ideas with this site is to preserve and maintain the integrity of urban exploration. Like others have said, unfortunately many good locations have been ruined due to vandalism and arson. I have my own personal list of local spots, some of which are not on the forum database. I can’t help but assume other dedicated urban explorers in town are well aware of them but it’s kept hidden to preserve them. I asked about a particular location a while back, and it had been kept hidden but was made public after I asked some questions. If you make a good effort to show positive intentions to this community I think people are more than willing to share stories, photos, locations etc This being said I am a KW local, if you ever want to chat or possible talk locations PM me!

... How have you had an account on here since 2009, but are just now making your FIRST forum post ever? Hell, first post ever period. That's super weird. Don't make a habit of publicly releasing location details like addresses and legal names... It's not exactly considered respectable behavior on here, due to the uptick in vandalism/arson/other general assholery that goes on.
The house on Trussler was never posted on here, although I do remember when it burnt down there was a post made about the arson. https://www.therec...-on-trussler-road/ As far as the Factory goes, it is on the UEDB, but for full members only. Which I'll admit is odd considering it's basically just a bunch of concrete blocks that form rooms now. But that area is getting a total revitalization so I wouldn't be surprised if it was being watched by neighbors. If you have any photos, feel free to contribute them!

IIRC, that farmhouse on Trussler burned down shortly after it was posted on UER... maybe within a few weeks, I can't be certain. That was a long time ago. I think some of the folks I ran with back in the day had an opportunity to check it out, but again, I can't be certain. It happened around the same time that there was a lot of other arson at empty farmhouses in the area – for instance the big old house that used to be across from the greenhouses on Highway 7 between KW and Guelph. As for the concrete slab, it was very keenly watched because of the area that it was in. With the amount of residential to the north and west, I think there was a very real concern of arson.

Agreed, anyone else find it odd that they haven't logged on since this post either. I get it people get busy but whatever, weird.

Are we really bitching about releasing a location that doesn't exist anymore? Guys. It's gone. There's nothing to vandalize anymore. We don't need to keep the lid on places that don't exist.

The first location no longer exists, and hasn't for a while. The second one still exists, I was just there yesterday lol.

I guess blaekly doesn't know as much as he wanted us to think when he scolded everyone haha.. .. at any rate everyone including the property owner and cops can see this thread now carry on.

Heck, I've never even been to Kitchener! I don't mean to be an authority on the matter. OP said they were gone and no one said otherwise - someone even corroborated it - so I thought they were gone. I'd say "honest mistake", but it wasn't really a mistake. oh well.
