Hello,

My name is spie I have been a member of UER since 2013 when I first learned about it from explorer Bradley Garrett. I was quite young when I first joined and have grown since.

I'm currently living in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Does anyone know any fellow explorers living in Las Vegas? I would love to get to know them and possibly adventure with them in the future.

Cheers,

spie

Hiya Spie! Vegas is a somewhat challenging city for our hobby, at least that’s been my experience since things don’t stay vacant long and usually kept pretty secure. I’ve been wondering how many others from this board live here. I usually solo explore but it would be cool to make new friends that share the same interest in it.

Apparently, Las Vegas has an extensive (and awesome) storm drains system.

Indeed we do, there’s something like 200 miles in total of storm drain tunnels beneath the city. Usually pretty safe but death traps if you have the misfortune to be deep inside when a flash flood hits. Many homeless folk live down there. Draining doesn’t interest me much so I’ve only gone in them a few times.

My experience has been with rural abandoned mine exploring. Lots of that all over Nevada.

I've always kept my eye on Realtor websites in Las Vegas. I've seen some pretty cool explores that way. It is true that sites get bulldozed pretty damn fast. Anyone recall the El Rancho sitting empty forever with "Coming Soon CountryLand" on the marquee?

Hey Soillarda,

It's great to hear from you! You are 100% right, Vegas has always been super challenging to discover spots to explore. I would really love to go and explore more of northern Nevada though. I heard there is a lot of abandoned ruins and mines like Abby mentioned. I actually live near a mine that I explored recently up in the mountains if you would like me to show you it. I will DM you my info would really love to make more of a scene here in the city.

Cheers,

Spie

P.S - It's great to hear from you Abby, I believe we talked a bit when I was younger and first joined the forum. Maybe we can all meet up sometime!

Good to hear from you as well. I see by the pictures that you posted that you have got a start at mine exploring. Neat!

On Monday I'm meeting with a guy I know from online that lives local. He's a pretty active mine explorer and we are hoping to get out and do some serious exploring. Another friend of mine just moved back from Los Angeles and he is another really good explorer. We both started exploring together when he lived here before. Where I'm going with this is that I would like to organize a "meet and greet" of mine explorers in the Vegas Valley. Just a way to connect people with a common interest. As you know, mine exploring solo isn't the best idea so getting some of us together would give us more opportunities to get out with other like minded folks. I'll make sure you know when and where we meet up.

Thanks for the shout-out!

Aside from the intricate tunnel/ drain system, Nevada offers many unique abandoned mining towns, mining camps, houses, trains and more. Hope to see more explorations from Nevada.

Guess I should chime in here.

Been in town since 1992, except for a few out of sabbaticals (Toronto for 6 months and Anaheim for two years). It's changed way too much here, and not for the good.

Last major Exploration (and forever ongoing project) is the Riviera Hotel and Casino. Spent a lot of time during the fixture sale documenting it (not as much as I would have liked though) and still document it today. Some employees have considered me the historian of the property. Feel awkward calling myself that, but guess it's the truth in the end.

Not much for draining or mines. Can't really imagine anything fascinating in a drain and not in physical shape for mines.

More the type to explore places easily accessed (permission is the best in my books most of the time) or just to hit the open road and poke around whatever looks interesting.

Hope to see everyone around!

Hola!
There are some awesome locations to document in Henderson, Ivanapah, Crystal Springs, Rachel and LV. All named above are non-drain and mine related. Everything is above ground. Feel free to shoot me a DM.

Cody here exploring everything!
