This venture holds special meaning to me, it was honestly one of the first times I challenged myself and my irrational fear of heights.
Location History The location was a phosphate mine located in the Bone Valley of Florida, which according to the Florida Phosphate Council, the region of Florida produced 75% of domestic production and about 20% of world production of the essential element for plant and animal nutrition. Closed due to poor economic conditions and excess water in the mine in August 2000, The company [REDACTED] filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2001. Since that time, the property has been bought and sold numerous times before being acquired by its current owners, [REDACTED], based out of Minnesota. While the current owners have a vested interest in the location's wellbeing according to locals, the facilities itself have fallen into a state of serious disrepair. Bats, spiders and wasps have made themselves home in the administrative buildings, while the mines have been completely flooded, a handful of trees have taken over the rooftop of the distribution terminal, and there is just something disturbing going on in the laboratory, based off of the smell alone. Side note - Flickr is giving me issues trying to post photos at the moment, sorry for all the grain. 1.

Thanks, it was a pretty nice place to visit, but upon review, I missed a few buildings.

I am such an ass, I thought I replied to these comments forever ago x.x MisUnderstood! - That reminds me of my thoughts as I was looking at the sign; "But -is- it riding if the feeder is not in motion?" Stuntmanmike - While I might be a bit over-dramatic, the catwalks and stairs were very sketchy for me. But I'm also stupid scared of heights so this place is kinda special for me that I got to work on that fear. Sheavy - I am learning so much more about this place, both while it was active and even after, since I have made my visit here. It is amazing.
