Photo Editing on Phone
< on 12/21/2017 4:20 PM >

I have more and more started to do most of my editing on my phone. Where before I would do most on the computer and a minimum amount on my phone, I have now reversed that. As a matter of fact, my last set that I posted here was 100% edited on my phone.

Photo editing apps are blowing me away these days. I do not use photo editing programs such as Lightroom and Photoshop, instead I always leaned towards the free versions of programs such as RawTherapee and Gimp. I've never been able to justify spending money on editing programs, if I made money from photography then I would revisit that thinking. Along the same lines the video editor I use is free also, and does everything I need.

The word rich post this is becoming is only meant to share the apps I use in case anyone else is interested in editing more on the phone. These are all free, or between one and two dollars.

Snapseed - It is a now a Google program, and in true Google form simple and powerful. It was originally developed by a company called "Nix" that Google took over. (Avaliable for IOS and Android)

Darkroom - Alows you to edit lighting and color curves among other things. Also states to recognize and edit RAW files, though I have not tried that yet. (Avaliable for IOS only I believe)

Touch/Retouch - This is my new fave. How many times do we take a picture of an old building only to have power poles and power lines get in the way? All the damn time.

Check out this before and after.

After:
After by Road Extx, on Flickr

I know that is not that impressive, but it is the only two I had handy to post. lol
Edit because I lie.
Here is another example I had on my phone, pic taken with my phone so it is not that great, just messing with the app to show a friend.

I do this on my iphone 6, with its replaced screen that is half as dim as the original, and with three lines of dead pixels... I look forward to using them on a newer phone soon, though I will be switching to a Galaxy phone, so I will lose the Darkroom app, any recommendations?

Thanks for sharing this. I'm definitely in for following this too. I'm not super well versed in anything photography. My sister just told me about one called picmonkey. She uses it online instead of photoshop but looks like they have an app too.

Great idea for a post!
I use mainly lightroom mobile app as well as snapseed. I really like the power and control lightroom gives you. Here's some knife shots I've taken while urbexing as examples of lightroom. It's all i got.

Snapseed is awesome! This is one I used it for. It's an old homestead. I still have so much to learn but the app is pretty cool. Thanks again for the post. Made my week!

Ahaha, camera phones are pretty impressive these days. Not to mention the practicality of having both a camera and phone with you at all times. My droid is pretty old too so I opted to get a Canon dslr. I also feel that gives me a bit of priveledge while urbexing. "I'm a photographer"
